***Official DC Universe Online Thread***

Damn you interesting looking MMO's, just bought this. Downloading now, what are the 'classes'? As you can tell, I havnt read about it, just thought it looked good via video.....

So how do you all rate this game?

I don't know... I'm a wow player generally so slightly biased but overall I find some stuff really clunky. I hope there is a much easier chat system as messaging friends is just an effort and I'm also overwhelmed by class choices and fear I'm going down the wrong route already (lvl 8).

I'm also feeling a bit of a hardcore mouse button basher with the odd special ability used. Combo's of 'left mouse x5' are kinda :(

I may start a new class after trying to dig the limited internet information up and go as close to a healer class as I can, I've always felt at home in that role :)

Having an annoying problem.

With Vsync on in the game settings, it limits the fps to 30.

With Vsync set to off in the game settings, and Vsync forced in ATI Controls it doesn't enable Vsync in game.

With D3DOVERRIDER set to force Vsync, and Vsync turned off in game, the FPS is capped at a lovely silky smooth 60. Niiiice.

BUT. When I press primary attack, it halves the fps (it doesn't SHOW the FPS changing on fraps, but for the duration of the animation, it significantly lowers the fps).

No idea whats wrong. Apparently, on the forums, people are moaning about the games vsync locking the game at 30 fps too.

Yeah I noticed this as well. But as you did I also have done with D3DO. Its a game engine thing as is the lack of AA.

For some reason I've got another 6gb tonight on top of my Steam download :(

Ah well, least got a nice shiny new PC to run it on once it does finish.

Yeah, the chat is a nightmare.

I am thoroughly enjoying the game, but it is designed for consoles. Gamepad and voicechat seem to be what they had in mind for much of it.

The gameplay guide on their site has a lot of information on roles/classes etc. Nature and something else was healer, psychic and something was controller, fire and ice are tanks

I like it a lot, it is obviously designed for consoles and is an "action" MMO. With this in mind I wouldn't want this to be my only MMO purely for the fact there isn't any "downtime" ( i.e no crafting etc) but this suits the mould. I play this and a couple of other MMO's casually and this game fills a particular gap for me (I didn't really like Global Agenda) and I like the DC characters/world so is a welcome addition. If I still had the time to play MMO's on a more hardcore basis I'm not so sure but at the moment it's great :)

EU servers seem to be filling up during the early evening now, cities were streaming with players. Think I am going to stick with EU at as I have my character to lvl 15 now.

Only down side, some of the legends pvp sessions needed for quests have 3+ hour queue's on them xD

I had high hopes for this game having played City of Heroes for many years and being a big fan of DC.

To say I am disappointed is a understatement. :(
