***Official DC Universe Online Thread***

To all the people complaining, give it a week or 2 to settle down, yes they have problems now but have stated they are working on it. Not like anyone expected a 1000% increase in playerbase just because it went ftp. Not a lot you can to do prepare for that!

An increase in the player base seems a given to me. After all isnt' that the point? I went and played COX last night, didn't fancy the wait.

Im having trouble getting past some of the bosses, im a villain plant powers with lex as my mentor. Im doing the instance in china town where i have to defeat the titans, managed to get to the 3rd titan after struggling to get past the two before and he just slaughters me... blocking and rolling doesnt seem to help me win just helps me survive longer. im level 9 and the quest is aparantly level 7..

Then you are doing something wrong my friend lol. Switch your load out to stuff that gives out high output damage and damage over time. Make sure you are specced into powers that do this otherwise it's worthless. Another thing...look for healing barrells and pop those bad boys at every chance you get...also you should be able to heal yourself if you are a plant villain, that means you are a nature healer...heal yourself as much as you can. keep a safe distance. What weapon are you using? Cos that will also be a big factor...if it's hand blasters, then range and kite. Don't try to be Rambo early on lol.

Take it from me, I can take out level 9 bosses even at level 10. So if you're unable to take out level 7 at level 9, something is not right. Follow what I've said and you should be fine :)

installed and like it, so far !!

made a hero PvP and a Villan PvE, no idea what im doing tbh but mashing buttons seem to work wonders :p

is there a level cap or restriction on f2p ?

I do exactly this, i played for a few months when game was released i ghave a couple level 30's from back then and didnt have this kind of trouble lol ive only got a handful of skills and only one of them is a self heal which costs a lot of power and only gives 132 health.. my weapon is a bow so i try kite and hit but doesnt yield much success either, cant find any heal barrels in this fight only two explosive ones which everytime i try pick up the get thrown back or stunned.

No cap at all on F2P its mainly inventory space and money restrictions.

If I recall your also Tega from The Unseen Servants :) Aloha its Iommi here, you going to be playing SWTOR?

hey bud been a while !!! yep I've got it pre-ordered and looking forward to GW2, should be good to hook up again :D

Drop me an email in trust and I'll point you at our guild webby, if you in touch with any of the others from U.S it would be good to have those on board to, were gathering a few members from LOTRO, WoW and old school SWG.

Downloaded it but now the patch is taking stupidly long, its been stuck on 9.8gb for ages, i tried restarting game/router/pc but dont seem to have done anything.

think the patch is roughly 4-5gig on top of the game client, I had to leave it overnight !!

Just downloaded 17GB from Steam, only to find there is a 6GB update when starting the program :/

FUUUUUUUUUUUU.

Please don't say that. I downloaded the client from the website (14.1GB) and then experienced random crashes in game. So I deleted it and have now started to download it via Steam to see if that works any better, it says 17.3GB. Are you saying that there's an extra 6GB on top of that? I wonder why the direct download is significantly smaller in size?

Now, just just to run salt into the wound, I've found out that I may not have needed to delete the game in the first place, as a mate informs me that it may have been crashing due to me forcing AA through the Nvidia control panel and apparently the game doesn't like that for some reason.

Guys, again anyone using this via Steam, just install the client launcher and run that instead of going via steam. I have it on Steam but I use the Launcher as a separate application instead of going via Steam itself. Just open the Launcher, then right click the icon on the taskbar and pin it (Windows 7 obviously). Job done :) I've not had any other downloads needed other than the initial 6GB last week when it went F2P.

New Producer update:

I wanted to give a quick update on where we stand on the concerns of most interest to the DC Universe Online community. The queues over the weekend where massive. There was a lot of folks knocking on the door and we know the wait could get long. We are working hard to optimize our systems to shorten the wait times and we will be deploying these improvements as we make them. We also had issues with folks getting into the queues after character create without proper notification that they were sitting in a line. We deployed a PC client patch earlier this evening that will address this issue and we will get it out to our PS3 players as soon as we have PlayStation signoff. The PS3 folks have promised a quick turnaround to help out our players. Additionally we have added a fix that should correct a condition that may cause you to not get fully into the game after character select (aka Loading Screen of Death). This is being deployed to our European Servers tonight and to the US Servers during the 4:00AM PT maintenance in the morning.

In the next couple of days we will be deploying other improvements like priority queuing for Legendary and Premium players, and soon we will be releasing Game Update 6 which has the conclusion to the Fortress of Solitude raid series and other game enhancements. We will continue to address concerns and enhance the game at a rapid rate moving forward. We are very excited about all of the new and returning players that have become part of the DCUO community. The free to Play launch has caused a lot of growing pains in a few short days but we will address the concerns and make every effort necessary to keep you playing and having fun in DC Universe Online.

See you in the game.

I find it curious how he mentions optimizing the systems rather than opening up new servers. It's almost as if SoE expected the initial wave of new players to drop significantly and decided not to bother. Problem with that is - not launching new servers IS the reason why that will happen.

Well I have to say it was a whole lot better last night. Granted there were queues, but the maximum queue I was in (around 8pm) was 600ish as opposed to 5000 on Sunday night. Fingers crossed their optimisation sorts some of that out (and also the crashing on loading into clubs or instances, really annoying that!) because at the moment I'm really enjoying this game.
