Keep going with it, I believe it's much faster because you can red line the gears or come out of a slow corner faster. Once you get proficient shifting up and down you will see the speed increase.

I tried that just I end up a complete mess :(
It took me a while to get used to changing gear, it's so fast, feels like 10 secs 1st through 5th.

What I find most challenging is throttle control in 2nd gear. Floor it to redline change to 3rd an initial slump in power. Obviously due to wheelspin in 2nd which I get no feed back for, probably due to using x360 controller. And don't get me started on the snap oversteer, god that's annoying.

Hi Nick - printscreen doesnt work so I used FRAPS too. I also get the 2nd gear wheelspin, you get no better indication when you use a wheel either.

Using fraps have not tried print screen, And I have switched to manual just gotta put some practice in and try to keep it in a straight line coming out of a corner :D

How you getting on with the x360 pad? I couldn't get the car to turn sharply/quickly enough until I edited the controller config file to zero deadzone (defaults 0.2) for steering, not a major improvement but an improvement all the same.

I'm getting the feeling to get serious lap times you not only need a wheel but just as important, pedals. Plus, you can't change wing settings efficiently on the fly with a pad. By the time I've straightened the car up & managed to adjust the wing I'm half way down the straight & have to change it back again.

Alright Danny,
Well that's good too hear, the wheelspin I mean. So FFB doesn't give you any indication, early warning or anything?

Cool time btw. I'm not beating that I assure you. You are safe. I'm 1:34.6 I think. x360 pad (yeah I know) No aids except racing line on this track. Did have a go in the Lotus initially & managed a late 1:38 & thought better switch cars quick. The McLaren is a totally different beast, so fast. See why most of you use them now.

Off to have another go. Back in a bit

Thanks Nick, the wheel is definitely more of an advantage in this game than Shift. I think Mr Fantastic is going to be difficult to beat this week, great time.

I know there's the well reported Career save game bug but I've now lost all my tuning setups. Why can't programmers get a simple thing like saves in game right. Actually is this game related or something to do with GfWL? I'm not sure.

Dan, I was just checking out your ghost lap. You just disappear on the straights. I must need to adjust my gearing. Anyway the game just crashed on me so I'll have another go tomorrow.

Well I've been using manual gears since last night. Certainly makes a lot of difference. Takes sometime to get used to though.

There is still 5 tenths to gain in the first sector from that lap, did pb splits in 2nd and 3rd sector on that lap.

That's an excellent lap time regardless of the loss of 5 tenths in sector 1 (I'm assuming you were 5 tenths quicker in sector 1 on you're previous fast lap). Did you change the setup at all?

Using the x360 pad you can't get the wheels to turn-in quickly enough on the slow corners. You have to slow right down & wait for the front to turn in. The third corner at the end of the second long straight I don't have any problem with though, as it opens out on exit. Need to get a wheel.

Note: One thing I've noticed if you turn OFF autosave, no ghosts & I believe no setups are saved. So if like me you turned off autosave because of the Career bug, when doing TT turn it back on again.

Nick
