*** Official FIFA 11 Thread ***

Can someone please explain how to defend corners? I've tried holding down pass, holding down shoot when the ball is in the air, just tapping them when the ball is about to land on someones help, but they all seem to do nothing and my defenders just watch the ball hit the attackers head :(
 
touch nothing let the cpu get your defender in position as the balls coming in to the box then move your player to the yellow x and time the clearing header you have to time it so press and hold down the pass button when the ball is about to land at its target
 
Is anyone else still having problems with their virtual pro online. Still taking ages for me to get a game since i dont have a club and have to keep searching for people
 
Well iv just had a bit of a run of games that has been sort of fun, first game was me as Burton Albion vs Barca which I lost 1-0, iv never played fifa and felt more hard done by with a 1-0! Should have been 2-0 to me (so bored of playing people who are bad at fifa but win for being dream teams).

Got to say the game is starting to grow on me just as it seems like games like my burton one was actually fun to be a rubbish team against someone who's lameing it up and being a stupidly powerful team and unable to play...

The online game entirely depends on the sort of people your up against (like all online games) Sometimes you get people who just like playing a game of fifa as a football game so they play not trying to exploit the game, pick fair teams and have a bit of fun. Then quite often you get landed with utter tools who pick barca, inter and so on to win and hammer up the skill table, even when your default team is southampton and to generally look bored picking burton albion makes them look silly....

Single player on any football game hasnt been good since world cup 98 on the n64 but thats another matter....
 
I know there is custom match ranked with the filters but I cant get a game using it.

I want them to add a filter to quick match ranked because nobody uses custom with the team limit filter.

Would save cancelling through 50 chelsea real players before you get a game with a non 5 star team user.
 
I had some brilliant games of this tonight. Playing Pro and online.

Had an online game against my mate and didnt realise that you use your Pro guy if you pich the team he is in. He is only a L74 Midfielder but I got the winning goal against my mate with him in the 120min lol

Cant wait to see him at work as my Pro is a lot weaker than the rest of the Arsenal players that I could have played with. Bendtner is brilliant in this game. Shame he doesnt do as well in real life.
 
I don't want to start a console war but having first owned Fifa '11 on the Xbox and then selling it for the PS3 version when my 360 broke, I have to say I prefer the PS3 version. In my opinion it runs slightly better on the PS3, I think the pace of the matches is a little bit faster and the PS3 version has faster controller response, making player control better. It could just be my imagination but that's the impression I got having played both.

i had Fifa 10 on both and also felt it ran slightly better on PS3. Not a massive difference, but still noticeable when you've played a lot on one of the versions and then switch.I prefer the 360 controller and most of my mates are on 360 so i played that the most.
 
This game seems to be getting worse the more i play it. I have won both the league and fa/league cup and yet they dont show up in my career history. It says League Titles 0 Cups 0 :(

Also the ref/linesman is actually ruining games now :mad:

I keep getting messages telling me to praise my players, how do i do this in player/manager mode?

this to be honest, I only played ranked 1 v 1 on the past 3 fifas, no offline play.

This year the only gamemode that isn't a borefest is Virtual Pro Ranked, but then you have to deal with a load of useles people. I don't game in the evenings so don't have time for a decent club.

Bit gutted that this was the year they have an online pass, as really I just want to sell it, cut my losses and play Football Manager for my footy fix

Or you could try PES? Honest to god it is a better and more enjoyable game than FIFA 11, people just need to start giving it a chance, you'll be pleased if you do.

It just lacks a proper online club mode, but has a lot of the virtual pro stuff with Be a Legend mode.
