I love my Ligue 1 side. Solid at the back, real pace up both wings with Bastos and Hazard, Toulalan provides great coverage in CDM, Gourcuff works really well in CAM for me, and Lopez and Briand can just destroy defences with their pace. They were the first real side I built and I still really enjoy using them.

the best 3 CB's in serie A excluding IF's are

1. UP Silva
2. Chiellini
3. Lucio

a good cheap IF is Gamberini but the above 3 are all better than him.

also De Ceglie as your LB and Maicon as your RB.

if you want the serie A version of robben in your team, get Menez, failing that get Lavezzi and convert them into CM's.

it seems to me that team is built on ratings over the actual capability of the players.

That's in your opinion.

I've played against countless Serie A sides online a lot - whenever someone has had Lucio or Silva at CB, I've been able to break through the defence like a hot knife through butter. It's been too easy. With Nesta & Chi it's been an absolute PITA.

Nesta is a rock, and he's in my Italian team also and I've never had any troubles with him, he's fantastic.

The bit in bold - I'm sorry but that's frankly ridiculous. Those are the players that were felt suitable, Lavezzi was one I also advised Tim to grab and he said he would after he'd tested those.

Different strokes work for different folks; not everyone has to pick the same players that the rest think are 'the best' - for one it makes a very dull game having the same players that everyone else says is 'the best'.

Tim; glad to hear it's working for you so far. Also heads up - I've always found Juan a very good CB also, solid as a rock, so he's good cover. Plays in my Argie/few Brazil mix and keeps the back solid.

I do think a lot of that is down to your opponent though, as much as the players. I seem to come up against a lot of Prem teams with Terry and Vidic at the back, and sometimes they're a nightmare to get past, and other times they may as well not even be there. If someone knows how to defend properly they can do it well with virtually any 2 good centre backs IMO.

That's also true yes, however the majority using Lucio/Silva seem to have a gap because of those two wandering out of position.

RuMp3l has a Serie A side and I've played it countless times with tons of different defences and the best is always Nesta/Chi - the other two just aren't ever as solid really.

Anyway, like I say, different strokes for different folks but I think too much attention is paid to who everyone says is 'the best' and they don't stray and try others.

Thanks mate, yeah its going pretty ok, 2 big wins, 1 big loss, 1 close loss, everyone seems to be doing well.

Sonny, it was not about ratings or any such thing, its about a team thats was told to me as a good choice, yes, Sneijder was a big spend, but he wasn't a ratings chase or anything like that, no point in having the coins if you can't spend money on a player without someone shouting "You're only doing that cuase he has a higher rating..."

And as a FYI, I have Lavezzi, setup as a CF to test against Eto'ooooooo but Eto'oooo is doing so well right now I just haven't had a chance to test him out yet!

Nevertheless, I will get round to trying Thiago Silva & a few others tonight, but I made the team from advice from someone who knows their stuff, too, at midnight, so haven't tried any alternatives on things yet! :)

I wasn't sure on Wes personally, he does have incredible stats but wasn't sure he'd be worth the 40K price tag really.

Is Cambiasso offering enough protection to the back? Wasn't sure that in that CM position he'd be breaking up the play enough or if he'd be going forward having not used the formation myself.

If it's anything like my CMs in my German team then it's going forward, as that's where I have Ballack and he's my top scorer heh!

He's actually doing pretty well, and thats on neutral, I'm sure when I pull them back to defensive/ultra defensive that things will get even better, he's done a good job in helping to setup some moves, too, but Eto'o, Milito & Ibra have done very well so far, not sure on the outside CM's, but thats all, really!

Perhaps trying some LMs & RMs might be handy then. Do the CMs either side tend to go out wide? I'll have to play you later and see :p
 
They're mid-width :p Not totally inside but not out on the sidelines, to be fair its going pretty well, Milito is a genius though, I think even more due to the fact of how much distain for him I gre over X months :)

You might be helping me sort my EPL players into this tonight too, young Bucket :D

Or just send help nao!! :D
 
It's a shame you can't use 4222 Tim, it's a beast for Serie A. I've only lost three games since I created this team and two of them were on pens.

Yeah, I just don't like it, prefer to have some more central players, but hey, thats just me! :)

Who is in your Serie A again? Linkypoohs? :)

Am certainly enjoying 4-3-1-2 though, edefinitely gonna try and EPL version, maybe with Rooney if i can be bothered to try him again ;)

Yeah completely agree with that. When I had my la liga side I had Rossi in their and he ripped it up for me, was sensational but when I tried kaka and Xavi they where useless, got sold and put Rossi back in their, Same with my EPL side, not many people like Dzeko but I like my wing play and need someone strong in the middle and someone who can header.

I would make a change at HT and bring on all your fastest players (if not already on) and just play through balls
 
Beating him 4-1 at half time so he spent the 2nd half trying to injure my players.

Only managed to injure Pastore but is for 3 games so has ****** me right off.
