Guys guys guys! As it is good tradition that new football manager stuff comes along around this time I guess it is my turn to make the thread for FM13!!

Pc Gamer has some info

It’s that time of year when the leaves turn brown, the air gets chilly, and the ass-shaped groove in
your favourite chair gets a little deeper. Yes, it’s almost Football Manager time – and, much like a
new boss cheerfully clutching a wad of petrodollars from an obscenely wealthy overseas backer, this
year’s edition arrives promising wholesale changes.

The headlining feature of Football Manager 2013 is a welcome one for those who’ve grown rather
overwhelmed by the feature creep in recent years. The new Classic mode – or ‘FMC’ as the press
blurb is keen to refer to it as – cuts out many of the minor responsibilities, allowing you to focus on
the fundamentals. “We decided to try to find a way to accommodate players with limited free time,
without significantly diluting the experience,” says Sports Interactive’s Miles Jacobson. SI suggests
that FMC allows players to complete an entire season in 8-10 hours.

Also new in FM13 is a Challenge mode taken from the smartphone versions of last year’s game.
There are five challenges in total, each lasting around half a season, and all recreating scenarios
common to the beautiful game: attempting to win trophies with a team of youngsters, for example,
or escaping relegation after footing the table over the festive season. If the mode proves popular, SI
has promised to provide further downloadable challenges throughout the year, which may or may
not include being asked to win the title after losing your star striker to an extended golfing holiday
for two-thirds of the campaign.

Elsewhere, you’ll be able to unlock additional modifiers to give yourself a mid-season boost, topping
up your funds during the transfer window, or cutting the red tape that’s holding up your expensive
import’s work permit. And if all this makes it sound a bit like FM’s gone all sports casual on us, fear
not: the main game remains gleefully uncompromising. Says Jacobson: “I would, however, like to
stress to our many, many fans around the world that the introduction of FMC will not impact in
any way on the game that they’ve come to know and love.” Heck, how many games this year are
promoting ‘realistic tax regimes’ as a new feature?

Other bits and bobs include a “more televisual” match engine, use of Steam’s network functionality,
leaderboards, a new UI and the ability to create a more flexible training regimen. Media interaction
has also been tweaked, offering a range of moods that will hopefully allow you to sulkily send out
your assistant after a battering at home from your nearest rivals, or to nonchalantly dismiss your
team’s title hopes when you’re ten points clear with three to play. It’s out on PC and Mac at some
point before Christmas 2012.

Thank you nuttyprot for posting this in the 12 thread, but lets keep them clean of each other in excitement for the new season of FM :D

At a guess, release will be like normal somewhere in the second half of October (when its cold and silly away games seem less attractive).

I am excited to see what they add and if they smooth out some of the very rough edges when you take a very small team to the very big time :)

I really hate steam showing the "time spent on the game" statistic, makes me wonder what else I could have done with the time I spent on the last 2...

I know this year at least I can't buy it on release, have to see out my current save which will take me till around November when it might start getting reduced.

Check it out the press conference

Network function is on steam!!! :D (been a long time waiting for that)

Omg omg omg omg! Got an email with some more features and screen shots!

http://sortitoutsi.net/blog/post/43/football-manager-2013-features-announced

That's the announcement, not a lot new though training will finally be enhanced to make it more relevant to your players (instead of just waiting for things to happen).

More exciting comes from the screen shots page

http://sortitoutsi.net/blog/post/45/football-manager-2013-screenshots

You can FINALLY loan someone and give them a role at the club!!!! :D So you can roll up to some one good who wants first team and go HERE TAKE ALL THE STARTS YOU WANT! :D

The smallest feature that should improve the common sense to loans no end!

^^ that has been a recurring problem in the last 2 as it seems silly to offer a loan to a player who wants first team and yet wont come to a team in the same division.

Looks like you can specify the position they play too just to make it even clearer the plans you have for them which is nice.

DLC... i hate DLC. Money grabbing DLC. Why oh WHY!

Ah you can pay to unlock some of the bonuses or just play the game to unlock them :p

So it's not proper DLC thankfully

Right I think this screen shot clears up the confusion on DLC

Seems to indicate the bonuses can be bought if you can't put the time into the game/want to hammer short FM for a laugh but you can just unlock them for short FM by playing the game...

As always they're too late with the release, it should be the day the season starts. There's talk of a December release? :/

Don't they always say latest December but usually go for October/very early November??

I do think they should usually have most of this sorted by September and can do transfers and stuff for a late September/early October release otherwise it's missing a lot of decent time of being relevant.

Is nothing sacred from having this DLC **** in these days...and what very much looks to be pay to win!!

Can't wait for the "Manager's tie of the infinite : +10 to shouting volume" *sigh*

Thought it was quite clear its to get the short game open at the start to try and recover the market of people who don't play any more because they don't have the time....

It doesn't look like key features are are locked or need to be unlocked with DLC, just a bonus to make the game accessible for those without the time

But (for the last time) it is not paying to win! It is a feature of the quicker FM.

They seem to have created 2 main game modes, a longer "traditional FM" (The one we all loose weeks too) and a shorter "classic FM" which is more like the portable version and lighter.

The idea of the bonuses is you can apply them to the shorter game so it is a bit less realistic/more fun for the casual gamer. Now you can pay a couple of quid to have them right now, or earn them by playing the game for a longer period of time.

It is very much like paying for steam achievements that happen to have an in game bonus. I really doubt any one is going to bother paying up the cash because you can just unlock most the bonuses from a couple of seasons of game play.

It is very much not paying to win the game quicker. It's not like you can pay a quid to have a world class assistant manager take you up the leagues in the long game mode (Colin Hendry used to be that cheat from the older ones) to get Bath to the premier league in record time.

* As pointed out in the post above this, it is paying to win.

As pointed out repeatedly, to a point of frustration, it just isn't.

The main game (FM we all know and love) you don't pay to unlock bonuses. The mini game, "FM classic" as they have called it, you can apply bonuses if you want to play a quicker gamer. The game gives you the option to buy these bonuses if you want to dip your toes in without putting the hours into the main game, but you can just unlock them for playing the main game.

Couldn't be any clearer how the (and I have to stress this now) MAIN GAME has nothing extra to pay for, ever. So this isn't a move to paying to win (unless you are rubbish at FM)

I had 1284 on 11, which I blamed on leaving it on whilst my laptop was on standby over night.....

Already made 1300 on 12 :( running excuse is it has been on whilst I have been at uni a fair bit (and done the laptop standby thing) but it is still a massive amount....

Thankfully 12 is running of of pointless goals to hit (other than Burton in the 40k stadium)

Right I skipped the match engine 2 one because its just footage of the match engine, which was dull as sin!

Here's the next two though, director of football and new staff roles videos

Both sound sensible/logical updates to a frustrating staff role system (could never get what I wanted out of the youth team without basically doing it my self, which is a lot of work)

English youngsters are traditionally overrated :p

Actually I have found England produce a lot of world class young players, but because there are so many English teams its a pain to bring them all together...

Also today's blog

Well there is a flaw in the way it creates newgens in that each nation has a characteristic of players, so England tends to produce physical players who are worse on the ball when other nations produce more tech players...

But on most of my decent saves in the future new gens in 12 tend to come out fairly balanced... Oh and most big England players at one point or enough aren't in the big English teams :p (most tend to get hoovered up by the big guns after a few years, thought that was reflected fairly well)

Good luck with the girlfriend :P Most have stared and gotten very very confused by FM enjoyment (well addiction) :D

Here's todays video blog for 13

Bam! And now comparison has big bold colours to compare players...

The actual interesting part is they are trying to get past the mystery staff rating stuff so you don't have to luck it in getting a decent back room staff setup sorted out.

Well today's blog and teaser is about transfers

Interested with this one as by the looks of things you can now shout at the game to develop how you want to play football!
