Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

When i got this board, remember there been a link (think it was on this thread) to a really good overclocking guide (on another forum). Tried googling but all i can find is the same FAQ on different sites, it was a really extensive guide. Anyone know what im talking about? Tried all the other links on first page

Just got 2.7ghz out of it easily. Ive got 2 sets of GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low. Obviously Im running it at just under 800 right now. Any one know what I can expect it to go up to?

hello all.
really need some help here please!

just became a member of the Gigabyte fan club, (from asus)
but...

after getting my new parts today,
im having a lot of problems,

i hope the members using this thread can help me :)

i made a thread in general, but i think this thread will be better for it.
my problem is...

my new spec is...

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
2x 74gig / raid - raptors.
512mb ATI Sapphire x1900xtx

i first put it all together carefully...
went to power her up... it powered up for about a second then turned itself off. then a second later turned back again.... :/ (found out its a overclocking saftey feature, scared me at first)

the only bleep i get is 1 long, then sometimes around 10 seconds later, i get another 1 long bleep...
- i took one of the ocz sticks out, but still same problem,
- no boot/post

no display either on monitor...

dont know what to do... if you look back at my previous threads.. kinda same problems. but this is a little different and totaly new parts

anyone got some help at hand?
what could be the problem?

Had this exact same problem with my first board. It was borked, got it RMA'd.
Sounds like youve got a duff board too.

Got a P35C-DS3R + q6600, does 3GHz on stock vcore with GEIL value 800 kit.

Done 3hrs blend @3.2 with 1.431v in bios (1.322 in cpu-z) mem @712,
temps hit 70,69,68,69, cooling with t-tower.

Could drop multi to 8 + fsb to 400 to get ram @800 1-1.

Will test @3.2 with ram @854 4,5,5,18.

Just gets a bit loud with the fans on full!

Edit: Passed 8hrs, 1.43v in bios, ddr v+1, MCH +1. Idle temps are 48,45,45,45.
Stock volts idle temps 43,39,39,39.

Yeah exact same board, i was using ddr2, Geil 2gb PC6400, with a E6300 processor, and got the same beeps as yourself.
I got it to post for about 30mins, then it would just keep on switching itself on and off and after a few tries of this it just wouldnt post at all, just got the beep.
RMA'd it back to ocuk as it was only 2 days old, got a replacement within 2 days , and its been fine since.
Although ive been running overclocked for the past couple of months without problems then the other day it reset it self back to default settings after reboot, did this for a few times then it seems to be ok now again holding the overclock settings.

well... turns out it isnt the motherboard...

posted this on my thread...
guess what guys....!!!!!!!!

i found the whole problem from when it first started!!!

i been having problems for the past 2 months, with my old amd build.
i finally... after my 4th motherboard... found the problem.

and its not even the motherboard!!!!!
after all this hassle...

turns out from when i had problems with my old pc, i bought a new PSU to replace my Hiper... its the dam PSU!!!! the 620w the new one!!!

i built it again outside its case, and tested my old pc again!
BAM FIRST TIME BOOTS INTO BIOS!!! - OMFG!

tested the new PSU! bam! 1 long bleep!!! no boot!

you have no idea how happy, but at the same time angry!
as i have spend... over... i dunno... £700 for a new system... and i didnt even need too!!!

specially the PSU!

but before i get carried away, now i have to contact overclockers about the problems, and the PSU. aswell, as putting it back together!

hope this helps others, and they find there problems aswell fixed.
but dam! never thought it was the PSU! - as it was a new one from here!

After some tinkering with my new setup, in the Bios (in PC health section), it reports DDR Voltage: Fail
Im running the memory at stock i.e. 800mhz @ 1:1.
the pc boots up fine, and passes all stability tests, except bios is still stating DDR: FAIL.
Ive tried to manually increase the memory voltage by 0.1, 0.2 & 0.3v, but whenever i do this, the PC blue screens or fails to boot altogether.

Is it a problem that bios is reporting DDR as fail?
Ta.

Its reporting fail because its above 1.8v which is standard for DDR2, set it at whatever your RAM is rated for and ignore it ;)

well the memory is rated 1.9v -2.3v
now everytime i manually change the voltage, from anything 0.1v -0.4v, pc refuses to boot.
if i leave it at 'auto', then pc boots, but shows up DDR FAIL in bios,
what i would like to know is this causing any damage to ram, or running pc slower than it should be?
thanks.

DDR Fail means that the voltage is out of the standard DDR2 spec but because your memory is performance RAM it requires higher voltage the mobo says its getting too much voltage for Standard DDR2 (1.8v stuff) but your memory is rated at 2.3v. Someone could probally explain it a little bit clearer if you still dont understand ;)

EDIT: Ive got the same RAM and mine shows Fail too :)

I'm planning to replace my e6600 with q6600. So I can also OC it with my DS3 rev. 1 but not above 3ghz. I'm planning to oc it to 2880mhz so it should be fine, right?

afaik the q6600 and e6600 are exactly the same as far as the mobo is concerned. 2880 is under 3000..so you should be fine :)

hello all,

finally got my new system together,
but im having problems with 3 PCI cards that are not getting even reconized in my Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R...

i have installed 3 cards into the pc.

1- Netgear wireless pci card
2- Benkin 4 fast USB pci card
3- X-FI Fatal1ty Extreme 64mb pci card

i have just got windows into it, and put sevice pack 2 on there now...
but it will not pick up any of the cards in there.
i know they are all plugged in and connected, as the X-FI lights up, and so does the netgear card.

it wont pick up any of them in windows though, it installs both the netgear and usb pci card drivers, but does not pick them up after a re-boot. or anything...

neither does it if i install the cards then load up windows..
i get no found new hardware...

has anyone got this motherboard and can give me some pointers...

i have looked at the BIOS, and its set to AUTO to change any of the settings in the PCI area. it kind of picks up some infomation of them, except the netgear card, the rest have usb and other things described by it.

i just managed to get it online via my brothers usb netgear stick.

what should i try now???

I would like to find this guide too. Sounds like a very detailed overclocking guide for the DS3, which I could do with.

Well we have our own version stickied at the top of this forum, and then there's the XS version here .

The memory compatibility problems have pretty much all been solved by now.
