***Official Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH, Z77X-UP5 TH and Z77X-UP7 discussion thread***

anyone with up5th and i7 3770k run it at 4.7ghz 24/7 i have h100i need a stable setting for that high overclock atm at 4.4 with +10offset

Holy thread revival! :D

I just picked up a z77x-up4 TH on b-grade and while it seems to start up, it doesn't show the splash screen or anything.
I've tried VGA, DVI and HDMI on the mobo as well as DVI on a gpu and nothing...

I've tried clearing CMOS and the RAM isn't dud, as I've tried that on my own rig and I've also tried a G1610 as well as a 2600K.
I don't get any warning lights or anything.

Is this thing buggered or do I have any other options to try?

Cheers.

try this to the letter

1. Shut off the power supply using the switch on the back of the PSU, wait 10-15 seconds.
2. Press and hold the case Power On switch, then while still holding turn on the power supply from the switch on the rear.
3. Still holding the case power on switch, the board will start, once it does release the case power on switch and shut off the power supply via the switch on the rear of the unit. (Do the latter two parts as quickly as you can once the board starts)
4. The board will shut down.
5. Turn the power supply back on using the switch on the rear of the unit.
6. Turn on the motherboard by pressing the case power on button.

Once the board starts this time you should see the Gigabyte splash screen, or POST page, then the Auto-Recovery from Dual BIOS will kick in. You will see a checksum error, and then recovery from BACKUP BIOS will begin. Once it is done reboot your machine and enter the BIOS and load optimized defaults then save/apply/reboot back to BIOS.

Now you are done, and will be using whatever BIOS was in your BACKUP BIOS, From there you can attempt whatever you were previously trying, or update your BIOS to the latest version.

I have that board, its good board if you can get it going

checked for bent cpu socket pins?

thnx didnt see the point of sending an sae if they never had one but guess best way to find out is to post one in. read on a few threads that they quite good that way and couple had one from them in a couple of days. mind you original email did say they would post it out the same day they received the sae

Cheers for that Wazza, but no joy I'm afraid :(

After the debacle with that Asus board (which got returned to me as 'no fault found' when it still had the same glaring problem as when I sent it back), I have serious doubts about OcUK's testing procedures...

Back it goes. And on a weekend too

Oh, and no bent pins that I can see.

what power supply and ram? and does the cpu fan twitch at all or spin right up? if I were you id rma it directly to gigabyte, should be free or £10 atm if no fault found

they can be picky sometimes with psu's esp certain ocz branded ones

ohh and you left cmos battery out a good 30 minutes?might need overnight

Superflower 1200w Platinum and Avexir 1600Mhz core.

The cpu fan does do a few twitches and along with the board, it seems to restart up to four times before it stays constant, though it doesn't always do it.

any other ram to try with? cant remember seeing any issues with avixir tho

the point of the power on/off thing above is to get the backup bios to recover the main bios,it didn't explain properly imo, what your trying to do is power on the board for a split second just so that the cpu fan starts to spin them shut off the power using psu switch, repeat three or four times then let it powerup normally

I've tried gpu and no gpu.

Anyway, I just bunged a stick of budget no-name crap ram in there and the bloody thing works...
Guess it doesn't like the good stuff. Go figure.

Any particular bios version recommendation (currently F9)? It'll only be mining with a G1610 and three 290's fwiw.

latest bios might cure the avixer esp if its on an early bios ect,and yh use same one im using modded f11c beta
