GTA-IV Performance Thread

For me it runs like a dream on both my PC's. Install took around 30 mins on each. Benchmarks as below. Very smooth FPS so far no slowdowns at all. 180.48 with everything in the Nvidia control panel set to highest quality. No AA is used at all on either machine. View distance is quite high @ 1360x768 on my HDTV and everything else is maxed out. Lot less @ 1920x1200 with everything else maxed out but so far not noticing any pop-in at all so maybe with the high hardware of PC's (compared to consoles) this is not an issue now. Very noticeable that the blur filters used on the consoles to hide the lack of power to run this are not needed on the PC. Graphically the game does not look stunning but the scale of the city is still impressive and have not noticed any ingame city loading either yet.

Check out the CPU usage difference:eek: More than double so looks like this is one of the first games which is better on I7:D I'd say forget this game unless you have a quad core at the very minimum. Back in the early days of PC gaming it was quite common for the latest greatest game to require hardware upgrades.

I couldnt play a game at that low fps, it would lag like Hell and kill my eyes.

40 is fine but I noticed that is at only 1360x768!

The game arrived at my office this morning and can't wait to get home. I was planning on playing at 1920x1200 (with 'rig in sig') but that's not looking likely.:(

Full shadows too i think

System spec in sig.

I bet nVidia and ATi are loving this,

Their sales should rocket with people buying new graphics cards just to play this game :)

Well I just installed it on my lappy.. It won't let me run at 1280x800 but it gets 23FPS and that was with everything as high as it would go on my lappy, including shadows at full! :)
Can't wait till I get it home and play it on my proper PC!

Full specs in Sig, either way atm this game runs like crap for me, even on all low.

{reserved for benchmark results when I get home}

EDIT:

Q) Whats worse than not having your benchmark results on the first page?
A) Having the game play that badly that you don't actually want it anymore!

EDIT2:

I have created a "rockstar social" account, and linked it to my GFWL account, but the game (upon initial loading) keeps saying that it is unable to connect to the Rockstar Social Club and to "please check my network connection"... My network connection is fine you POS, just connect!!!!!
