***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

It's the hot weather, if you want to keep the overclock improve your cooling
As I said, not convinced that is is as my OC as my CPU never gets over 75 and my graphics card 60.

However I can see how the heat could be a factor since it started Saturday however this is just a rinse and repeate of the issues I usually get with updates. Has been the same from release...

I don't want to be "that guy", but have you received illegitimate money from an exploiter, or something along those lines? I know a few people who were stripped of their cash, but were left with their properties and vehicles intact.

No it's cool. Not that i'm aware of. Made $500K in stunts racing so not feeling too bad now :D

What Graphics card are you running?

I had all sorts of issues at the beginning with my Nvidia card with GTA and were resolved with K boost.

Nvidia 970! Interesting, what's K boost :D?

It's not, temps are never close to full and all of this was brought on immediately after the Cunning Stunts update.

As an update, I disabled my overclock and managed a good couple hours crash-free last night! Early days but hopefully it fixes it until R* fix it properly. Thanks a lot for the suggestion :)!

Damn, I want to reinstall the game to 100% the single player in my free time but the Social Club launcher download is unbelievably slow... Can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet. Download speed is under 1MB/s most of the time, goes up to 11MB/s for a minute or so if I pause and restart. Ridiculous.

I can't install the game off the DVDs because my drive conked out some time ago and I can't be bothered to buy a new one since all the other stuff I've got is digital.

Are there any known workarounds for this?

I'm guessing someone has probably uploaded the game files to numerous file sharing websites by now. You could put those in the correct location and have the Rockstar Launcher verify the files.

That in itself would take some time and would probably be a hell of a faff from your point of view so it's easier to stick with the slow download.

Well, I'm not in a hurry as it''s only a game but it sucks a bit. Should've gone with the Steam version.

Anyways, I'll probably be done with the download by mid-September;p 21st century, baby!:D

K boost is part of EVGA's precision X GPU management software. It stop the card from down clocking, ie, always at the boost clock speed.
This prevents the card from down clocking when the graphics load eases and as a result stops the voltage of the card dipping below 1 volt which seems the issue for a number of Maxwell cards.

This fixed my issues way back and since and I have lost the despair that can be found through the first few months of this thread... Give it a go and see if it makes a difference.

I'm starting this up again and would like to go from scratch. I deleted the two previous characters I had. I then proceeded to make a new character, although it says I have 618k in the bank. Should this have been removed?

Also, because I'm a returning player, they gave bonuses. Does the 500k bonus get applied to each and every character you created or not?

if we are

talking GTAO
Your money is your account and not character's. So it is shared with both. Starting a new character does not affect the you money have.

Also returning player bonus is a one time thing if I remember..

Thanks. I only now have the single character. I did also withdraw all that money on to my character and once again, deleted that character. After deleting this character I didn't have any character left to choose from, so I had to make a new character. Now I'm confused as to why this character still has 618k in the bank?

The money should have been deleted.

The money is associated with the account, your Gamer tag and not your GTAO characters. If you want to start again without cash, nick a car, mod it till you are skint and then destroy it.

Ok I'll give that idea a go, thanks. So if the money tied to my account, isn't the money that I earned through GTAO. Where does this money come from?

How did you buy the game? You may have a 500K + starting bonus. On steam you can uncheck the box to disable it as it is classed as DLC. However I would just get rid of my money if I were to start from zero again.

Right, online racing looks quite fun from the few videos I've seen on YouTube. I'm thinking of getting back into GTA racing (I used to love MTA:SA). Is GTA V's multiplayer racing anything like as good fun as the San Andreas mods of old?

Do you need to buy and mod cars, or does everyone start races with the same/similar cars etc?

Now I've finished studying, I'm thinking of getting back into gaming and as I enjoyed GTA V so much, it seems like the obvious place to start.

Never tried SA racing, But in GTA V it's up too the lobby host if he wants custom cars on or not, They mostly do put it on customs, You can still race but obviously be at a disadvantage with a stock car vs custom.

Used to love mta too, & I really enjoy the racing in the cunning stunts update, as the poster above said, they can put custom on or off, some customs are pretty cheap, think the erm akuza? bike is only like 9k for example ( about 3 decent finishes will get u that much), then u can customise it when u get a few levels, obviously those who played longest will have more/better mods unlocked but u can build it over time.

You do however need a house with enough garage space to store all your vehicles, think you can get a 10 car garage reasonably cheap tho, that would probably be your 1st priority.
