***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Just tried my PS4 controller plugged into PC. Amazing how it works with no drivers or 3rd party software. Sure the game tips show the xbox controlls, but it's only A B X & Y so very straight forward.

Just wanted to test it. If I had a bluetooth dongle I'd hook it up to the media centre PC and stream it. Especially now the wife is in bed.

Does that work with all games or just this one ?

My game keeps going in to windowed mode when I start it after restarting the PC.

Now a new thing, the game pauses itself randomly when I'm playing.

Go onto steam and then games and it says add non steam game or something like that :)

Does not work with this game, when you do add it via this method the overlay still won't work. But it will say so and so is playing GTA 5:

If you want to add GTA 5 to steam as a non steam game so people can see you are playing it I found this works. You can't just add it the normal way because it has a launcher and it will say playing GTA 5 then stop displaying it 5 seconds later.

save this as a .vbs

Dim objShell
Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject( "WScript.Shell" )
objShell.Run("""E:\PCgames\GTA 5\PlayGTAV.exe""")
Set objShell = Nothing

x=msgbox ("Don't close this prompt, OK? ", 0,"Overlay Steam, Run Launcher Games")

Change the game location to your location. Add a non steam game and find GTA 5 in the list and add it. Once that is in your steam library right click GTA 5 and goto properties and put the location of your .vbs file as the target.

No other work around as yet, and still no overlay working.

Any one know how to add it as a non-steam game properly? I wanna take screenshots, and half my friends who are playing it don't even know that I own it yet :D

Using MSi afterburner for screenshots is the best way tbh anyway. Steam screenshots never seem to be as good.

Had lots of fun tonight doing tons of racing with at least 16 players... was hilarious.
Im getting a little annoyed with the random crashes and freezes though ... I seriously hope they fix it as it all appears to be with the connection and people dropping out of jobs.

Just got this after finally getting a better understanding of Online play.

SUPERB FUN TONIGHT!

That was hilarious crispy, we literally took a "spin" in the countryside :D

I promise I will cut back on the ramming during races now, saying that I didn't really mean to ram anyone except for westie, you have to admit it was a beautiful ram :p I couldn't resist ramming on a few of those custom made maps though especially when crispy was perfectly balanced in the big truck on the building!

Longbow got me good on one map, both side by side pushing and I get rammed straight into a dumpster :D

I've had enough of this game. It ran great on release but since yesterday I've suffered 12 crashes and I just cant enjoy it. The major random drops in fps regardless of settings are really starting to irritate me.

I've never felt so cheated out of £40, the most I've ever spent on a game, and its sad because underneath all the technical issues is a brilliant game.

Wut? This is GTA, ramming and all the dirty tricks are always allowed. If people want to race properly then they should play a proper racing game.

Was having fun tonight until we started experience major lag spikes, so frustrating trying to do heist missions. Had everything from teleporting enemies and vehicles, to bugged objectives and random fails. Then, finally after about an hour or so of fighting through it we managed to complete the mission........only for it to disconnect us all as it was loading and none of us received anything

Then to rub salt in the wound as I rage quit the game I got BSOD :D

I would draw the line at idiocy like going the wrong way round the race and doing constant head on collisions; a tactical pit manoeuvre on the other hand... ;)

I played the game when it came out on the 360. I have to say, the first person view is a revelation! I was going first for on foot, third for driving, but now I do first for everything. Bikes are especially cool!

Well, as long as I don't change any of the graphics settings the game runs all day long! Ocasionally loading up in Windowed mode upon clean exits... I've no idea why. I'm scared to touch the graphics options as they seem to make the game crash. :/

But yeah, it's bloody excellent. I hope to see a few more of you on! :D

I'm gonna restart the game. Only reason I can think Packie refuses to spawn is I might have killed him without realising it.

Worth a try anyway. :o
It is VERY easy do this. On the console release I killed Packie because I just didn't realise it was him at all. I never restarted but the temptation was there.
