Will the 4770K be worth the jump from a 2600K @ 4.5Ghz? (Based on little info we have so far)

some ppl are guessing a rough 20% increase.

i have been thinking hard the last couple of days, i need a rebuild soon as my system has developed a leak and would rather do a full rebuild but with a 2500k at 4.5 with a 7970 is there any much point in changing to haswell? i really dont think there is.

I have a 2500k @ 4.5 was thinking about going for the 4770k but now I just can't justify it for the money, I can't think of anything I do on my system that needs to be faster. I think I will wait another year.

It's a difficult one.

On one hand i'm thinking I need to maximize the effectiveness of my Titan, on the other i'm just not sure how much of a difference it will make.

Everything is running perfect and stable right now, that won't be the case with Haswell when it first launches. Having to wait for bios updates and all that drivel.

but surely with the dual ufei bios things it should be easier (i have no exp with it but i imagine its a lot easier and safer)

Dual bios just means that you have a backup in case your primary is corrupted. But it can also be useful if you want to maintain different versions for testing or modding, or something else. What Noto is talking about is probably stable versions for overclocking, or just general bug fixes. Immature bios are sometimes problematic and it can take a while for board manufacturer's to release fixes.
 
I just hope other companies aren't slow getting their gear out after release.

along with the chip itself im going to need an rog matx board from asus and ek to get a waterblock out for the chip.

A full range of Giga boards is certain on release. They are really on this one. EK also has some interesting blocks I have worked with them on.
 
I have so got the itch to upgrade, dont need to upgrade as the i7 920 is still rocking on, very good investment there but I just feel the itch coming on.

I have a similar system and itch to yours. Did I catch it here? Who knows, PC's are so slutty it could have been anywhere really... I'm probably going to get down there and scratch it with Haswell though.
 
This report seems to indicate that current gen psu's may cause some issues with Haswell.

That headline is a bit sensationalist, probably an attempt to get more views.

It's only the ultra-low power states which can cause issues, and it will take the whole of ten seconds to go into the BIOS and disable them.

Mobile devices will obviously want to have them enabled, but they ship with their own PSUs anyway so compatability shouldn't be an issue.

This report seems to indicate that current gen psu's may cause some issues with Haswell.

That article says nothing about current gen psu's, it says old and cheap psu's.

The only workaround is for the states to be disabled in the BIOS, which defeats much of the purpose of buying the CPUs in the first place.

Or, you know... Just but a new PSU with decent efficiency to take advantage of the efficiency of Haswell.
