***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

My oc of 4GHz (just upped the multi) with stock voltage has seen temps of 65-70 with a Tranquillo cooler. So pleased with that, that's with the fan plugged into the 650D controller and set to low also

What's the best way to get rid of these whea errors I'm at 4.4ghz @ 1.236v and I'm still getting them whilst playing arma 2.

this my friend is my golden question xD seems to be put more voltage through it... but i'm sure there must be more to it than that :\

Is it worth upgrading to Ivybridge from my i7 930 bloomfield? main use is gaming. Any benchmarks comparing the two?

Could it because I'm using Offset voltage? If it's coming up in games I doubt there using all the CPU so the volts will be lowered and then the CPU might not get enough volts at that load.

I might try dropping the LLC down to try bring the idle voltage up a bit maybe that will cure it.

If you're bloomfield is bottlenecking you're GPU then possibly if not I still think a lot of bloomfield users are sticking to their chips until haswell :)

Ok just finished building new rig

Specs

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
i5-3570K
8gb Samsung green
GeForce GTX 670
M4 128 ssd

Cooling
Phanteks PH-TC14PE with 3 fan setup
haf x case
1 side fan, 1 front fan 1 back fan 1 top fan

Ofc need to test for stability ect before overclocking idle temps average 25-35 (seems to jump around a lot.)

What versions of prime and IBT are you folks using. Reason i ask after googling comes up with about 4-5 dif vershions of each one.

P.S never used intel chip always been amd so exspect more questions from me lol.

Edit found latest ones.
Will stress for an hour (should be enough considering everyting still at stock). Then 2moz will learn how to overclock intel chips :).

any advantage of running 1 or 2 cores super fast ? I'm guessing overall Vcore required and temps would be less ?

thinking 2 cores @ 4.7 and 2 at 4.4 ?

im hopefully getting an ivybridge set up soon, no doubt its a great CPU, but sounds like a lot of effort to get a stable set up, which might not be great for my first PC Build, is it worth it over the sandybridge

Finally up and running. Just started overclocking and put in 43 multi and 1.2v and a few other alterations like LLC.

Strange thing is that under prime it's showing 41x multi, 102 BLCK. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? As unless it's one of the power saving features I haven't changed anything that should effect that...

EDIT: The OC tuner decided to turn itself on :/

I'm taking it you're gonna tone your voltage down a bit? :p for 4.3Ghz I would expect you to need about 1.16/8 maybe on a 3570k :)

Yeah, was just starting at 4.3 just incase it was uasntable. Up to 4.7Ghz @1.31v and temps maxing out at 86c on the hottest core under prime small FFT's.

Not bad for an evenings work but one of the cores is clearly the "runt of the litter" and when I try to push too far it'll drop down to 0-10% load under prime while the rest are all perfectly fine at 100% and then if I leave it going it'll bsod. I think I'll try the turbo boost thing where you can set individual cores and have that one running at 45/46 multi with the rest at 48/49. I'll also be trying out the BLCK until I switch over to offset mode for my 24/7 clock.

What sort of temps have you IB guys been getting last few days during this hot weather?

3770k
sli windforce gtx 670
Hafx
230mm front intake
140mm front intake
Top front 200mm fan intake
Graphics card fan mount with 120mm
Side 200mm extract
back 140mm extract
back top 200mm fan extract.
Noctua nh-d14 cpu cooler fans at max.

Yesterday it was 28/30 degrees next to my pc using a thermometer.

Clocked at 4.5ghz with ht on and 1.27v with speedstep.

Ibt 92 degrees.
Prime95 27.7 87c.

Today at 22c i get.

Ibt 81 degrees
Prime95 27.7 78c.

Yesterday i ran my cpu at stock as gaming at oc volts i was around 70/75c while gaming.

Usual room temps are around 16/20c.

Cores was alittle lower by 2/10c compared to max cpu temp, this goes with or without oc'ing and same goes for ambiant room temps.
Cores are idling around 30/38c today, yesterday they was around 45/55c.

ok noob question what is llc? cant seem to find it in my bios.

Starting my first overclock :)

took few attempts to get booting into windows

currently
multiplier x44
1.24 volts did try get boot at 1.18 but refused to boot into windows started getting into windows at 1.20 but then got bsod after loading upped again to 1.21 no bsod but started getting windows errors. tried upping couple more times and finally no errors at 1.24 and been running prime now about 30mins.

tempts under prime max 70.

So am I doing this right? Are volts ok?
