***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

Testing my 3770k so far:

4.4Ghz at stock volts, max core temp was 63 running through 20 minutes of AIDA64.

4.6Ghz I needed to set the board to 1.220v to get 20 minutes stable in AIDA64, max core temp went to 78 max.

4.7Ghz it took 1.245 to get into windows and 1.285v to get a 20 minute test, max core temp went to 84 with an average of 72 on the hottest core.

There is no real heat coming out of the cooler, the air feels cool. I don't think a better cooler will have any effect on overclockability. I wonder how safe 90c max core temp is?

O.k maybe a weird one......

Heaven V2.1 on my i7 920 I got 66FPS average

Same benchmark same GPU (6990) I get 98FPS average with the 3770k @ 3.5GHZ a nice increase.

However when I overclock to 4.2GHZ (100*42) I get the same FPS ...

Any ideas?

4.4GHZ at stock volts seems stable, passes intel test burn and a couple hours prime.

Will have a proper play about at the weekend.

That is a nice clock. I can get mine to 4.3 on stock volts, crashed Prime pretty quickly at 4.4.

I don't really have the GPUs to justify any overclocking really.

Think I will invest in some games and start enjoying the system.

Depends on the games, RTS type games like total War are very CPU intensive as is BF3 multiplayer.

Well, if that is the case then I am sure I can get a nice stable set-up at 4.5 on fairly low volts if I'm able to get to 4.3 on stock.

I was tempted, really tempted, to go for the i7 but decided against it at the last minute because I read that some games did benefit from hyperthreading. For the time being the i5 should suffice.

Finally got round to putting my 3770k in.... Anyhow I discoverd that the cpu had marks on the IHS from what looks like a previous installation, the package itself though didnt look like it had been opened before.

I take it that this is from factory testing or something? Did anyone else see anything similar?

Mine had this too!

Ok so i spent a few hours trying to get the overclock stable but just cant seem to do it.

I can run prime within windows for 30 mins or more with settings at 4.4ghz or 4.5ghz but as soon as i apply them with the Asus Bios it doesnt have any of it and wont boot!

Dont really know what i am doing wrong to be honest!
