***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

Yeah I was using older version before, AVX increased my temps a bit further to 83c. As I see it my temps with never actually go that high in normal use. I just tested TF2 for an hour and the highest temp was 52c, so I think I'll stay at 4.4. (well, ~4439 :) the BCLK on my motherboard goes to 100.9 when the multiplier is <45 for some reason.

I haven't had time to try it as I'm decorating the missus' flat, but does decreasing your BCLK in the BIOS by a little e.g. 99.1 sort out that issue of it actually running at 100.9?

Setting BCLK to 99.98 gives me an actual clock of 100.05, 99.97 jumps down to 99.99 and we can't have that! :p Currently at 4401.something Mhz. Dropped my dynamic vcore from 0.005 to 0, now I get max temp of 78c, which is better than 83c.. So am I at stock volts at 4.4? In BIOS my vcore options are auto, normal or custom setting - it's currently normal. cpuz reports 1.236v load and 0.996v idle.

Erm you can use Acetone on your £250 CPU if you like... Id rather not have it melt >.>

Never heard so much rubbish, been using nail varnish remover on CPU's for years now, like to soak them in it to get it reallllly clean! lol, then when you apply the latest cpu paste, its just that at the micro level so to speak, all the molecules of the latest paste bridge the gaps to the heatsink better.

I think that Acetone is slightly "harsher" than IPA. Acetone can melt certain plastics.

Having said that, I doubt if it would be harmful to a modern CPU. I always use IPA to clean gunk off CPUs and heatsinks. You can get a large aerosol can of IPA for about £5.

Ahah well one drop of Acetone in the wrong place could melt the CPU's PCB rather not risk that! Much easier to go pure alcohol since it will just evaporate xD

Pure acetone would be ok I suppose as long as you are careful, only problem is that Nail polish is not pure acetone, they tend to contain oils, scents and other gubbins that would contaminate a CPU's surface.

I've overclocked via the turbo boost ratio, are there any benefits doing it via the CPU multiplier? My overclock is 100% stable and my temps are great, I was just wondering what you guys think.

How's she looking? :) I think I'm getting towards thermal limit now though?
