***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

With a bit of luck you might get one that clocks the same as the current one. Havent bothered with the modded bios on mine. It would only be for benchmarking anyway, and on the stock bios clocks, it has the second highest graphics score for a 670 in the 3d mark firestrike thread.

I've just switched from a OC'd Phenom II x4 960T @ 4.1ghz,

Went to consider OC'ing this Ivybridge, and well.....
Everything is still at stock, for now, until I can make my way round the BIOS,
I have reduced the turbo to 36 (down from 38)

Anyways....
CM Hyper 212 EVO cooler and using HWMONITOR I can see under the MAX column over the four cores there is like about 5 degrees C difference.... and maybe I can live with that......

It when I look under Value (the instant reading) the difference between Core #0 and Core #3 can
be upto 12 degrees..

Now I only put this together last night but something surely isnt right....... If the PC
remains stable for a couple of days, I'll look to re-apply the Termal Paste......maybe it is only
over the one side

Are all the chips like this?

Normal windows web browsing, emails etc, my max core temp is between 35 and 39 c, and the 212 evo is running around 600rpm

Has it helped with the sli setup much illuz?

@Mathius, differences in the cores is pretty normal on ib's, ive seen a few with wildly varying temps, (my own included). One of my cores has read as low as 5c at idle at times. Impossible in a room with an ambient temp of 22c.

Not entirely, haven't had a chance to game on it. My GPU usage in C3 is about 60-70, sometimes 50% so something is holding it back though I'm hitting 120FPS.

My 3770k should arrive tomorrow if DPD managed to pick it up on time and my 3570k has been sold, fingers crossed I get a good clocker!

my old man is getting a 3770k tomorrow, so i've convinced him to let me test it to see if its better then mine and if it is hes gona swap :D

my 4.7 overclock was keep bsod 124 6hours in to prime95, so i've dropped it down to 4.6 @ 1.33v and i'm now on to 16th hour of prime screens to follow later

test with games aswell,i was ibt stable at 1.32v yet needed 1.38 to be fully stable,no games crashing to desktop ect

^^ yeah thats what i get "internal parity error" cure it with a big bump in offset v

yeah its a pain in the a$$, i was getting big stutter in bf3 when getting those whea errors, checked the performance graph and cpu was spiking like mad which is why i set about making it more stable, gona up offset by 0.5 just to make sure

parity error = cpu almost but not stable

stable enough to know that it has performed the calculation wrong

but has to do that calculation again - hence drop in performance

keeping bumping up Vcore is only solution :(

Going to clock the Turbo on my i5-3570k to 41 and test with IBT in the hope that core temps stay under 75c.

IBT will be set to 4Gb ram and a 7 run cycle.

seeing as IBT stresses the CPU more than what I call PC use (odd occassional video convert and MW3) if I get it IBT stable under 75, ill be happy.

Is it best to leave voltage settings etc on auto.... seeing as I'm only turbo clocking

could try auto,if it uses a lot of voltage try setting cpu v to normal, you can undervolt the cpu if you want by using -0.005 or -0.010v in dvid

dvid only gets unlocked when you set cpu v to normal

why not leave turbo cores on auto and just set cpu multi to 41x? thats what i do

I put my CPU @ 4.6GHz & v1.290 to start with and it's running that pretty fine, going to try for 4.8GHz.

I'm getting some liquid ultra soon, so I'll have a try when that comes too. So far this is way better than my 3570k. I needed v1.~350-60 for 4.6.

looks good so far illuz, are you delidded? what are temps like?

oh and why not liquid pro?

I don't have a clue why, but my processor WILL NOT let me go past 4.6GHz. I have it set to 47x multi in the bios, v1.320. Load up windows and it says 4.6GHz, 46xmulti. What's going on here?!

I'm not delidded yet, I don't know when I'll do it. Liquid ultra is the successor to liquid pro - http://www.coollaboratory.com/en/products/liquid-ultra/
