Official Kaveri A10 review thread

BF4 unplayable at 1080p on the A8-7600 even at lowest settings ;

Hopefully Mantle will sort that, especially with BF4 supposedly being shipped with the A10 APUs

TR seems to get much better framerates though:

They test at medium settings so the Bit-tech results look a bit low,as they are using low settings.

Look at the frame latencies though.

Moreover, drop the resolution down to 1680X1050,and it should be playable.

Look at their test system - they used 1600MHz memory while others used the recommended/supplied 2133MHz memory. That makes a HUGE difference to an iGPU.

Edit: To be fair on them they did also use the faster memory and saw the performance was significantly higher - just not on the page you linked!

I have to say I would recommend a A8-7600 to anyone looking for a general purpose desktop. It's matching and in some cases beating the i3-4330. A good chip indeed.

OK, finally got my A10-7850k & Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WiFi up and running.

I say finally, because it's been a pain in the rear end, if you're thinking of buying the above and you haven't got an existing FM2 cpu/apu then you're in trouble as the shipped bios (atm) doesn't recognise FM2+ APUs! Luckily I still got my 6800k, so i popped that in the board with the latest bios upgrade (F3) on a USB stick...oh no, it couldn't be that simple, it kept saying the flash utility is outdated. So i put the old SSD in with the win7/6800k system on, luckily that booted up ok. Still couldn't updated the bios through that...needed to be 32bit!
Finally had to used Rufus to create a USB DOS loader, that got my able to install (F2) bios...jeez!
Built up the system with the A10-7850k & win7 64...so far i've just ran 3DMark06 (i've been using that since it began, so i can compare to older systems)

here's what i got so far...

A10-6800k & F2A85XN-WiFi 1600mhz RAM = 8452 score, cpu = 4697
A10-6800k & F2A85XN-WiFi 2400mhz RAM = 10070 score, cpu = 4686
A10-6800k & F2A85XN-WiFi 2400mhz RAM (4.6ghz + 1054mhz GPU) = 10616 score, cpu = 5020

A10-7850k & F2A88XN-WiFi 1600mhz RAM = 8596 score, cpu 4725
A10-7850k & F2A88XN-WiFi 2400mhz RAM = 10684 score, cpu 4801

so with 1600mhz RAM it's no different to the 6800k, but using 2400mhz RAM it's better than the 6800k overclocked!
