Built a lift down in the bottom of my mine, be warned if you want to try it two things can happen:

1. All goes well and it moves you so fast you get kicked off the server for hacking.
2. All goes badly (this is the norm) and you end up in small pieces scattered around the general area.

It's a work in progress, pretty sure the problem is that it's a tad too fast for SMP, works fine in single player mode

so split it in 2

I assume you use repeaters so can't you just make them with a higher delay?
