Did he really come up with the idea?... ; P. Yes it probably was a bit selfish etc, but don't think that minecon would be there without him, which is where he spoke about how he made minecraft. Not suggesting anything about his character, just about how things that come to be sometimes require other things, and that thing that made minecaft happened to be him.

Maxi's test server is running 1.0 I believe, but this map won't be carried forward.

The main server is (as you've already worked out) still running the old version.

I'd like to think that he put out a massive thank you to the modding community (not just Bukkit, hey0, etc, but all the individual modders). Without that community the game would be a pale shadow of what it is right now.

I can't get on because I don't know how to unpatch minecraft :( Is it a fresh map on the 1.8 server that will be carried foward to 1.0 when bukkit release there patch?
 
no its the same map as the main server always had after the builds were moved they just keeping it up till bukkit etc is sorted, and then it will be fully wiped for 1.0
 
im using the time to plan my new build in single player creative, the only hard part after the server is updated will be finding a suitable snow biome for my new build :D
 
I could make an online server if you guys are willing to play on it with meh? maybe make some cool things with redstone with me ? :)
