** Official OcUK RIFT Guild **

Started on another server and hit 42, but this just makes me want to reroll here so I think I'll do just that :) Can I apply straight of the bat or do I need to hit a particular level? Judging from the last line I'd say can apply of the bat but guilds website kinda made it sound like they wanted some 50's :) ta

Nope! Sign up here and join us, plenty of people at all levels.

yea this guild is good but most are level 50 though so any raids and dungeons is done by level 50 chars only and i get left out

There are a number of people who have toons at all levels, so it shouldn’t be difficult to get group going, just mention it in guild chat.

I'm starting to level my other two characters now, which are at lvl 33 and 23 so always up for dungeons and group questing.

Some random thoughts:

I've noticed on a few occasions (myself included) that people have just gone from 1-50 doing quests, maybe 1 or 2 instances & very little or no PvP. This has ended up with people, through no real fault of their own not knowing how to effectively play their various different roles.

Why is this a problem? Well it is and it isn't, some people will just hit 50 and be instantly ready for any tactics you throw at them, others will obviously need practise to gain confidence & expertise in their roles.

How do we solve this? Two points worth making:

PvP.

First and foremost PvP is a fantastic exercise in:

  • Button mapping - dragging your mouse over 500 pixels is a lot slower in 99% of cases that having a skill mapped a button your finger is already on. Q, E, R, T, F, G, X, C & Shift + Ctrl + Alt variants are literally mandatory.
  • Reaction time - Interrupts, silences and moving-out-of-the-way all play a key part in RIFT, getting to know when to do them helps massively. Practise, practise, practise.
  • Crowd Control - Whether they be temporary (i.e knocking back or fearing a rogue for a few seconds) or semi-permanent (i.e Transmogrification lasting the duration of a fight) is a fantastic tool for clearing new content & dealing with bad pulls.

PvE.

Completing instances/group content (i.e. Rifts, Group quests, et al) at level appropriate times not only lets you get basically a free level of experience but also semi-prepare you for the Expert Tier 1 & Tier 2 versions of those instances at level 50, in regards to boss moves & tactics (obviously expert instances have extra bosses and tactics)

Joining mumble and going through with guild members will improve your experience no end.

I'd also like to organise a couple of level 50 'mentor' duos to go through 40-50 Dungeons with members who feel they need to improve ready to rock and roll in Expert/Raid Dungeons & Rifts! I could do with improving my tanking & I think Markeh would like to trial some healing builds so if 3 DPS are online this weekend give Ragu a shout & we'll run through AP/CC Normal to get the group dynamics sorted then head on to IT & possibly KB/RotF/FoLH/?

Always ask in guild chat. I've done 3 or 4 lower level dungeons to drag guildies through.
I found when levelling I did very few dungeons, mostly due to the terrible state of the PUG Shivermere tanking community. I've not done any past level 25 to be honest.
So grab me if I'm online, I've obviously got quite a few quests in these instances.
