*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

Just downloaded and install PS1, not the easiest of things to get working. Had a runtime error so had to put planetside.exe into xp compatibility mode, and even once I get ingame the mouse sensitivity is unusable. In menus the mouse is super fast, and when not in menus it doesn't pick up fine/slow movements of my mouse, and if I speed up my mouse just a little it 'jumps'. at high mouse movements it doesn't seem so bad, but for precision stuff it's unplayable until I can figure out what's wrong.

I found the mouse to be dodgy as hell as well, played a bit with setting and got it OK now, game runs OK on my system now.

Turning off 'enhance pointer precision' in the mouse options of control panel helped a little, but still far from what I would like. Also after coming back to the game after all this time and still having issues, like players seem to 'warp' around at a times when making sharp turns, or some weapons seemingly insta kill you at times, and do no dmg at other times. I used to like playing PS1, but now I simply can't put up with all the little issues it has.

Hmm i signed up for beta but i never got a Email about the PS1 thing, I also played PS1 back in the day... not sure on my account details though.

Right, a few things I will explain about PS and it's current state;

1. You will get 100x better performance in Windows XP than Windows 7 - due to PS being a DX8 game.

2. PS has always known to have a crappy net code since day one - also the server now resides on the West coast which gives most players a ping of 150+ms.

3. PS is CSHD (Client Side Hit Detection) so you will be gibbed in game sometimes or not (also there are quite a few known hackers still playing).

4. Mouse settings; PS's mouse sensitivity isn't the best as it resides on a 'grid' system. It's best to use around 800DPI while playing. You will loose pixel perfect accuracy when zoomed in past 2/4x unless you have the sensitivity bar all the way to the right.

You will also loose the pixel perfect sensitivity if you have it lower than what it is in my screenshot provided;

The trick is not to go below 'between' the first 2 joysticks.

Also, please make sure you have 'Enhanced Pointer" unticked , your windows sense on the 6th notch and the mouse fix. CPLMouseFix for XP and MarkC MouseFix for Windows 7!

Hope this helps and and have a happy and delightfully day of being annoyed and angry as this game! :D

Wow, I'd forgotten just how awesome PS1 is. Absolutely epic battles going on.

I'm still rubbish, but if you throw enough mines down you're bound to get lucky at some point :)

Apologies if this has already been asked but when I follow the link to share my spec it just takes me to my account page and says something along the lines of "you already have an account blah blah" did I miss click something or is this normal?

Way I did it was log out of SOE on whatever browser you mainly use.

Then go to SOE on another browser like IE, don't sign in, go to the planetside 2 site, sign up for beta, then log in and it should ask you to fill out the specs.

So is there no way if you already have an account?

Used a pc gamer code on my account which should get me good access so would rather not lose that :p

No you can do it with an account already, you just need to sign in when you press sign up for beta and it will take you to the section you submit the specs,

Still not working despite trying another browser, what a fanny on why couldn't you just have a link in your own account page? :confused:

To share your specs change your browser language to english US then refresh the page worked fine for me :D

Worked for me in FF, and worked for many above in IE :)

To get it to work 100% set your Browser Language to US not UK.

Took me ages to work it out too.

I think that's some kind f subliminal filter so they only get mostly US players in the test.

Thanks it worked for me in chrome. I'll still play it even if I get a ping of over 120ms :)

Another thing to note for PS1 folks - there's a bandwidth setting under game options that's set to 64kbps by default, up this to the max to take advantage of the fact that we aren't all on dial up anymore :)
