Hopefully they'll start to optimise it soon, it runs like a dog on my system whereas BF3 runs so much better. I've seen a few vids on Youtube with Max Settings and it looks quite beautiful. I'm having it run it at 720p @ low settings just to get +30FPS in the action! I dont have the greatest PC, but it is a good 4x slower compared to BF3.

I'm sure they'll fix the bugs, which there are quite a few but it is beta afterall.

*breathe deep* virtually open beta, go read last sentence again. Seriously, just mumbling 'its beta' over and over again makes you sound like a fanboi.

PS2 is F2P...

Yeah i'm thinking more of the £30 alpha pack, which is probably what I would consider a minimum spend for having the full effect. Still, no harm in checking in every now and then.

Since i started the beta the optimisations have been fantastic,in a few weeks its gone from constant hitching and stuttering in large battles with around 5-15 fps up to no hitching with at minimum 25-30 fps in large battles and 60 fps in smaller ones. If they can continue on this trend it should be pretty epic.

No *** sherlock, the point being the flying game is made for the lowest common denominator, which sounds like it would suit you just fine fanboi.

I would recommend giving it a whirl later on, joystick support is coming for ps2 the devs have shown it working a while back I believe just it needed optimisations for various sticks.

Absolutely, ill keep an eye on it. Flying the Galaxys seems a lot of fun, would love trackir support as well whilst were dreaming! Theres been some discussion on the boards. Would move me over to this in a big way for my 'massively' multiplayer.

So, noob question. Battles over, facility captured, youve missedtne last shuttle out of town and used up your instant avtion, what are your options? Talking of suicide, fell through the world about 4 times last night, reported it, seems common.

Edit - also would like to see that FXAA config, everything does seem a bit blurry.

Either take a vehicle to somewhere or hit escape and on the map is a Redeploy button, it basically suicides you and allows you to redeploy.
 
What CPU usage are people getting with the i5 3570k ? Mine doesn't go above 45% but GPU is on 100%, really hope they optimize CPU's more as 3 of my cores are not going above 30%.
 
Played a few hours last night and there seemed to be a lot more people playing. Had some mad fun with a galaxy and about 10 guys. Didn't have any stuttering, there were a couple of lag spikes but all in all its looking pretty good.

There are a few issues like the post above where I spawned at the Warp in and fell through the floor.

I think this is what you are after:

"Copy these two files to c:\games on your disk: (I assume you have PS2 under games.)
C:\Games\PlanetSide 2 Beta\GraphicsData\materials_3.xml
C:\Games\PlanetSide 2 Beta\UserOptions.ini

Edit the copied materials_3.xml with notepad to remove AA.

“Find the "materials_3" file in the graphics folder. Open it with notepad, and then search for the line that says

"<Object Class="MaterialDefinition" Name="EdgeAA" Type="EdgeAA">
<Array Name="DrawStyles">
<Object Class="DrawStyle" Name="Normal" Effect="Shaders\dirblur.fxo"

And delete the Shaders\dirblur.fxo bit then save.

So it will look like this....

Class="MaterialDefinition" Name="EdgeAA" Type="EdgeAA">
<Array Name="DrawStyles">
<Object Class="DrawStyle" Name="Normal" Effect=""

Edit the copied UserOptions.ini to reduce draw distance.

“Rendering
GraphicsQuality=1
TextureQuality=1
ShadowQuality=1
RenderDistance=1000

Set RenderDistance to 1000 or less. I use 250 and its fine unless you want to fly.

Now you need to create a bat file on desktop next to your PS2 shortcut, but first make sure you can view file extensions .txt etc.
Start_Settings_ControlPanel_Folder options_View_Hide extensions for known file types (UnTick this box and apply)

Create the text file, Right click desktop area_New_Text document. Open it and enter this text.
“copy /Y c:\games\materials_3.xml "C:\Games\PlanetSide 2 Beta\GraphicsData"
copy /Y c:\games\UserOptions.ini "C:\Games\PlanetSide 2 Beta"
exit
Save, close notepad and rename the file and its extensions (the .txt part) to PS2.bat

You have to do (D) every time you play because the launcher overwrites the files since it thinks there is something wrong with them."

You can then use something like injectsmaa by mrhaandi

What’s the TR like in other servers on the EU1 server they seem to be really under powered, is it just the players or is it like this in every server?
 
Interesting, at times the TR have had a 10% higher population and still get no where, worse most time the TR cant hold on, its given me the impression that the TR are really under powered but if they are doing OK in EU3 it must be the players in the EU1 :(

When i was playing as TR on EU1 they did really well most nights pushing the NC right back to the warpgate. I switched to NC and now the NC have never been pushed back as far and seem to push more and more into TR territory.

Must say though TR do have a heck of a lot of afk's at thier gate compared to the other empires. VS seem to have the least and do extremely well with the usual pop disadvantage that they have.
 
Might have to give another empire a go tonight see if the grass really is greener ;)

Pity I'm about 1000 points away from my rocket pods, cant believe how much they have nerfed the A2A missiles almost useless.

Saw your text mate, a long while after youd yelled! Sorry was trying to figure stuff out. So why is everyone static at warp gates? Resource farming is it? Just by being there? Explains why its crowded most of tge time.
 
Anyone got a spare key for this, wish i bought 2 copies of that pcgamer now, i got one fopr a guy on here as i wasnt feeling the game then, but doh that was a mistake.
