*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

Bit of a stupid question.....but where exactly do i get the download for the game? I've apparently got beta access as i've been given a buddy key even though they never notified me in the past to tell me i had been given beta access!

Alogn with that though i've never had a link to any beta download

EDIT: nevermind, seen someone else put /download after planetside2.com and that works lol, still don't understand why i didn't get an email though

EDIT AGAIN! Wish i hadn't bothered, games a pile of crap.... maybe it gets better as you level up but i've never really liked games where it takes 1000 hits to kill someone. Pummled a guy with a full clip from a heavy close range, he shoots me twice with some laser gun and i die

It doesn't take a 1000 hits, it takes maybe 5-10 and much less if you hit the head :) Give it another go, use the sights, they're much better than hip firing, levelling won't change anything in regards to time to kill, it'll give you better sights, little better armor/shields but nothing game breaking.

Medics are pretty tough to take down 1 on 1, their rifles are very powerful and they have a self heal ability. As a heavy were you using your personal shield ability also?

Well considering you were unable to even work out how to download the game yourself, the latter of this post does not surprise me. Actually did you even download the right game :p

No download link on their website and no email received with a download link, how was i meant to work it out myself from a point of zero information?

Yes was using the sights. Never really liked games like this even though i did enjoy PS1, guess i was hoping for something a bit different... (or rather, more similar to PS1) can't pin point what it is i don't like though, just feels like a poor, slow, futuristic version of battlefield with no real immersion or atmosphere.

If you were just spraying and praying as a heavy with the hmg then no wonder you didn't kill them its wildly inaccurate when you spray, especially if you played as NC that thing when you spray cannot hit a thing, you need to burst it.

Although it could've been you were shooting a max unit, a huge mechanised guy they are pretty much anti infantry vehicles for inside, so its not surprising you didn't kill it.

Either way its pretty poor effort just to give up before even starting..

It wasn't just "spraying and praying" i know how to aim on an FPS game, it's not rocket science, besides it was literally point blank.

Besides my issue isn't all based on "i couldn't kill 1 guy, i gave up" I gave it over an hour, killed lots of people, tried the different classes, got in the odd vehicle and had a few big battles. The games just got no atmosphere and generally feels dull, it's lacking in many areas.

EDIT: Just for the sake of it though, i'm going to give it another go now seeing as i've nothing better to do, though i highly doubt my opinion will change.

Mmm well thats certainly one opinion. Im no big fan of the PS style of gameplay, feels a lot like youve got x hitpoints and you can take y number of hits from z gun etc, reducing the skill aspect compared to other fps, but dull? No, never got that. Horses for courses i suppose. Taking down planes with the max is my favourite hobby, flying my least - terrible flight model, terrilbe SA.

I just get bored so quickly, and that's coming from someone who quite happily played the same set of maps on CSS for 8 years straight, the game just doesn't seem to suck me in, and i know it sounds daft after that previous comparison but it just feels so repetitive. Some games seem to make repetition enjoyable but i'm not getting that from this.

I had the most fun as an engineer, but i still lost interest in playing pretty quickly. (I was playing since my last post only 30 minutes ago, and felt too bored to carry on after that short amount of time)

Strangely I enjoy playing as a sniper the most in the few hours I have done. Remember from the original though that the game comes into a league of its own when headsets and proper teamwork is involved.

Spot the solo player with no outfit :p

Thats a bit of a generalisation, I too am a solo player with no outfit, have been playing for about a month. Tried the pickups for a bit, had one or two guys who knew what they were doing, the rest im not even sure why they were an outfit. Far more fun now to go where the fight is and just rock on. Once thats done head for the next fight.

Once game has started proper may join a permanent outfit.

Unless you are in a squad with a vocal leader do not even consider forming an opinion on the game is all I can say lol. It really does make that much difference.
