*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

I gave this a quick blast the other day but wasn't quite sure where I was going or what I was doing. Also the graphics weren't quite as good as I was expecting.

It's much better played in squads as you can achieve much more & feel the benefit of team play.

Also, the graphics are being slowly enhanced & optimized as it progresses but it's something they have to tweak a bit lower than say the clarity of BF3 etc as there's much more happening on screen at once. It's already a slideshow for some people, so increasing the fidelity more will make it nigh on impossible for some.

10 days time - 20th November is release date.

Personally it's too early & they should delay until the new year to refine the game more. Doing big sweeping tests of such things as Bio-Lab control giving health regen this late in Beta isn't good.

True, the NC have swung from being hard hitters with slow rate of fire, to slow rate of fire, soft hitting squishies. Slightly out of whack balance tbh and something hopefully the Devs will rectify. Only problem they have is if they tweak the NC again, everyone player & his dog that hates NC will claim it's Matt Higby flexing is power.

10 days?? :(

Will leave it to the new year probably, can't get an upgrade that fast (or afford it!)

Seb, that video is awesome!.

Cannot wait for next month, will be adding a bit more to my newly aquired system.

Cannot believe Trinity plays this at around 25-35fps without any OC'ing!

Going to be getting a full size case, CPU cooler & a circa £200 graphics card, should make the game fly along! Espeially as I will be able to OC the processor now!

I am downloading the beta now, ive never played this game before or the previous one. Any tips on what to work towards

Well, the beta so far has seemed a bit... random.

The original used to have bases HEAVILY defended (in most cases) for considerable time with fairly long battles to take each base. Hopefully this is what they are aiming at again.

With that in mind get some form of infantry loadout you find fun to play and can excel with.
Find a tank class vehicle (either a main battle tank or perhaps one of the armoured troop carriers) you like and can be effective in.
Try and get the hang of either the main air superiority craft to each race or the bomber.

That's a good starting "kit".

The original game switched between "ok, they've a TONNE of AA down there now, roll armour!" to "ok they've got a tonne of armour hammering us from that hill on the left, get some aircraft and go rip em up" fairly quicky. When the only nearby spawn point is a tower "foot zerg" tends to be the main/only option. Do them in the rough order of foot/tank/air as you can always go gunner in a decent infantry loadout until you get more certs.

The certs AREN'T (or weren't, haven't played in about 5 weeks) a major block to starting to use each class/vehicle. Not sure if they are changing/have changed this yet. It allowed some pretty handy changes/upgrades to gear though.

As a question: Do galaxy gunship squadrons cause mass destruction again yet? It was one of the single most awesome things ever in the first game. 3/4 gunships flying in formation (generally all the gunners on the left or right side with the other side empty then circle the bases either clockwise or counter-clockwise) was quite the force to be reckoned with.

I have not seen the Galaxy tactic put into action yet, but that may be due to the higher effectiveness of the AA compared to the original.

It may also be as there is a lot of new players who didn't play the original, or it could just be I have not joined an outfit yet & really seen the teamwork thing consistently.

Seen some Sunderers equipped with some different weapons and laying the smackdown, but still awaiting the Galaxys.

The thing that concerns me is that every patch seems to cause problems resulting in hot fixes. I'm hoping that this trend won't continue after launch.

So what's going on then... NC just can't seem to do a damn thing right at the moment? Just seem totally incapable of taking or holding ground.

We've taken a bit of a hit with a nerf bat & I suspect it's caused a few less-loyal to turn coat & play either TR or VS. :D

I started a new character with the TR. Absolutley loving the Prowler. Got 38 kills earlier, 1 death, just placed it nicely outside a base, took down about 4 Lightnings, 3 Magriders & the rest in infantry.

Had to keep retreating to a nearby base to fill up on ammo & then return to the fight.

LOVE IT.

TR name is Buffallo, sorry if I killed you!

Signed back in after a little break and we had advanced so close to the NC warp gate it was just odd. Definatley not fixed them with the update. I am however getting a higher fps by about ten frames, so happy about that.
