Flying a Galaxy into the middle of a big fight is brilliant, draws a lot of fire away and everyone looks up like WTF?!?! Why is that Galaxy flying around a Bio Lab so low!

Out you jump as light assault just before it blows.

Brilliant :D

It's a good tactic, draws the fire away from the Libs and Fighters as everyone wants to claim the kill and XP for themselves.

Don't really see the appeal of this game, I was looking forward to huge gun fights but found myself running around looking for someone to shoot most of the time :/

Play the game more then a few hours and you soon learn where the fights are.

Anyway, press M and in the bottom left you will see a list of a few "instant action" places where you can drop pod in. Also on the map itself you will see often "Deploy" where you can drop pod where the action is.

If you click on the zones in the map itself, it tells you if there is enemy is present or not.

Most of the big fights are around the Bio Domes and AMP stations and some of what I call, the Aircraft stations (Towers with four landing platforms).

Flying a galaxy into a group of AA maxes, all ninja like low flying and ****.

So awesome, ruined their entire day (Crown too :o), then the crown was taken, I think I won that day.

What, taking advantage of a clearly untended use of a weapon is right?

I can see it now, the Devs sitting at the table thinking of what equipment, vehicles and weapons to include in the game and one of them has the bright idea that lets add mines and allow them to blow up none moving vehicles by COD banzai rushing players instead of using mines like what you and I vision them to be used as.

Have no problem if it was C4.

Enjoy your cheap kills because it's going to be naffed soon or later just like everything else.

I could count on one hand the amount of times I've bothered doing it, so my 'cheap kills' aren't the worry here... ever since beta when they made it so you could spawn the sunderer from anywhere it pretty much went back to when you could mass deploy them without minimum ranges. The sunderer is a huge problem in this game right now in how lame battles play out.. they zerg in get deployed next the cap points / the spawns and 9/10 times that is that for that 'battle'. It's a change they desperately need to revert so the most powerful vehicle in the game by an absolute mile in terms of impact isn't 2nd to the flash by how cheap and throw-away it is.

Sort that **** out and I'd probably go with you on making them a bit more immune to being insta-killed. But keep it the way it is and I think they should add 2-3 more ways to instantly kill them.

I installed this last night but it's not letting me create an account atm. So, what race/class would people recommend? I imagine the answer is "depends" :p I generally prefer infantry roles.

I'm thinking the medic perhaps? Whenever I played Wolf:ET or ETQW I just played medic as you could heal yourself and keep fighting longer. Is it similar in Planetside 2?

They all have their good and bad points tbh, but it's not like you're stuck to a single class, you can change at any equipment terminal.

Don't start with infiltrator or light assault until you've gotten used to the game a bit though. Both are potentially very good, but not as a first taste of the game. Medic or engineer are good choices to start off with.

This is a game where you really need to be wearing the right trousers at the right time. You can "main" a class, but you should try to be flexible to suit the situation.

But as a starter, the medic is a good choice - best close/med range carbine of them all from the off, and yes you can heal yourself.

Can't wait till that's fixed.

Wait till what's fixed? The fact i spent about 10 minutes creeping round the back of a mountain trying to avoid all line of sight with the enemies just to do that?

Tank mines without using them on stationary vehicles are not worth purchasing.

If you let a player get that close and deploy 2 mines, and you don't have mineguards your vehicle deserves to die. If they didn't self detonate by themselves a grenade would still trigger them and the engi would kill the vehicle anyway.

Personally I'd prefer if we got far more mines that did less direct damage but debilitated vehicles in someway so they could actually be used as a viable defensive item, but as they are now with only 2-3 per player and being easy to spot and destroy they have to do a lot of damage to have any use.

Can you drop mines on tanks from above? I'm pretty sure I've been nobbled by light assaults once or twice that way.

A mine should be something you plant and wait for something/someone to move over, simple as. C4 should be for actually placing on stuff to make it go boom.

Start on Miller and join VS, they are the most OP'ed faction at the moment, everything about them rules. Secondly comes TR. NC are the weakest faction and everything about them sucks apart from their Vangards which have shields. :/

Change classes when you need to change, don't just stick to one, that's not going to help the team.

Nice logic there, guess that fits for the Jews who didn't escape Nazi Germany in time and it's their own fault for staying there.

Guess when I team-kill you, it's your fault for being in the way of my bullets or not getting out of the way as my wheels and tracks roll over you.

Think I understand what you are saying and to be honest, I might agree. Maybe the way to fix that is to make the AMS cert high in points cost, like 500 or 1000.

Personally, I miss the old Beta battles where you had huge battles between armies. You still get them now but not on the same scale as when I played in Beta.

If they didn't self detonate by themselves a grenade would still trigger them and the engi would kill the vehicle anyway.

A well placed bullet will also detonate a AV or AI mine... useful trick that one when packing AV mines in infantry scenarios. Just to note that sometimes AV mines do not explode if you place them under Sunderers and will require a shot/nade. I think what triggers them is the slow "slip" of the sundy when parked on a slope.

Can you drop mines on tanks from above? I'm pretty sure I've been nobbled by light assaults once or twice that way.

As Dave said, mines are engy only, but yes you can drop 'em from above (from rooftops, bridges and out of windows etc) - they tend to go off the moment they hit the roof of the target vehicle and a single AV mine on the roof of a Sunderer is an instakill.

Nice logic there, guess that fits for the Jews who didn't escape Nazi Germany in time and it's their own fault for staying there.

Wow that's not very appropriate

Well today's Ragequit was waiting 6 minutes for my Mos, switch to full screen mode by pressing ALT+Enter which caused me to exit my flying aircraft... while the Mos nose dives into the HQ.

I lived, the Mos was on fire which I quickly saved. Jumped in it. Mos started to Nose flip into the HQ and explode. I did a force shut down on the game then.

lol yesterday i pressed e by accident just as i left the warp gate, i landed inside with no fall damage, my reaver landed on one of the towers around the edge with the grav lifts etc. Ran over to the lift, went up and because my reaver was covering the lift it killed me. Ran to another tower, used the other teleporter thing to get over to it, got in, my reaver flipped and blew up. Good job game.
