***Official Reading 2009 Thread***

Don't think i'm going this year. Last years camping was horrific and the general festival atmosphere has gone down over the last 3 years. Second year there the "angry mob" turned up and started attacking people, ripping up tents and iirc trying to push over ice cream vans and then at last years Reading all I could hear were racist chants and the sounds of fighting. This btw was in Orange camp, which is fairly out of the way.

I've still got my 06, 07 and 08 wristbands on. Chances of 09 aren't looking good.

Yeah i hear you mate.

I camp in Yellow every year which is only a few 100 meters from the main arena and thats where it mostly kicks off every year, especially the last night.

Last time I went was 07, gutted I didn't go last year but this year all being well will be a goer.

And being an old git and picking the white camp (I think, the one furthest away over the river) was a good move last time, full of nice people, bags of room, no stupid kids being annoying :)

I didn't notice much out of the ordinary in Orange camp last year to be honest, the atmosphere seemed friendly but average (except for some $"*&) banging on a steel bin all night with a pole) we were down one side away from the middle but after Download 07 when I was woken up by 40 Riot police in full riot gear walking around my tent everything does seem a little bit easier to handle.

Hopefully going this year along with a few festival virgins so the plans is to plumb for white camp to make their stay a little easier. (plus we are getting on a bit now!)

Went for the day last year to see RATM ofc, didn't really fancy the rest of the weekend except Metallica and seen them before so wasn't overly bothered.

The atmosphere has been getting worse since early 2000's. Last enjoyable weekend camping for me was 2004. That was at reading. I went Leeds 2006 and will never go back there again. Stupid mob mentality northerners going ****ing mental.

I think this is partly due to the change in music popularity since 2000 onwards. Admitadley I'm older now (25 as apposed to 17/18) but it seems that the festivals have a bad habit of having vast number of kids (18 and below) who are there with the "first taste of complete freedom" and just go insane.

Having fun and good times at festivals is great and I love them for that, I don't appreciate ****ed up 16/17 year olds ruining other people's time. Sadly it seems more the case these days.

I will do what I have done past few years, see if the lineup is any good (as that seems to have been degenerating over time) and possibly buy a day ticket if it's good enough :)

Arctic Monkeys to headline - http://www.nme.com/news/arctic-monkeys/43766

Probably along with KoL and Radiohead imo.

Ahahahahahahaah

Seems that my predictions about Reading this year were true.

1) Worse headliners than the year before (box is ticked, you were going to be hard pressed to beat RATM, The Killers, Metallica)
2) At least one headliner won't deserve that status (box is also ticked).

If the Arctic Monkey's headline...well...no albums in 2-3 years after the "success" of their first album which basically mostly sounded the same, lets not forget that 2nd album that no one even really heard of...OH GREAT!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

:D
