***Official Squad Thread***

I can't watch the video as I'm at work still but im guessing you mean Tooner? He's not been on the team for quite some time now.

Fear not though, we have the right guys for the job!

Hopefully 4.12 integration will alleviate some performance issues. After that we have the new animation system to address a huge perf loss.

Once the game gets feature complete (quite a while away) then the real work on optimisation starts!

If you're new then the best thing I can say is find a decent squad who are using comms. Tell the SL you're new and the 90% of the time the guys will help you out. Just play as a standard rifleman at first to learn the basics then move onto the other roles when you're comfortable. Once you're in a squad just stick to the SL and do what he says.

The [M] Mumblerines Teamwork [EU-ENG] server is one of the best ones at the minute. They enforce an "All SL's must have a mic" rule so you're likely to find a SL who is more than willing to help.

Any specific things you want to know just give me a shout on here.

We pushed a version 6.5 hotfix release last night, which contains:
  • Bugfixes for RCON to allow for additional testing on live servers.
  • A crashfix in code relating to soldiers.

Also some of the Dev team will have a gaming session with Hitbox.TV crew for some livestreaming this weekend. Drop in on Sunday and watch the Squad Devs match up with and then against the Hitbox.tv team live. We'll do some Q&A and giveaways live on stream. Maybe drop some knowledge on Alpha v7.

Alpha v7 is getting close now chaps!

I jumped on last night for the first time in a while and Oculus home launched and attempted to start the game. When trying ti launch into a game i got a solid screen of messed up colours and then i quit out. Maybe its because i have a graphics mod running that it did that.
I disabled the oculus service and it launched fine.

Do i take it by this that VR has been built into the game or it just the oculus service incorrectly opening?

VR integration is in UE4 by default but not supported in Squad.

i think 95 percent of owners are waiting for vehicles.then should see a big increase of players back on.

the main things that stop me from playing are the animations are very slow. also jumping and sprinting could be better.

one reason why vehicles will be so wanted.as running getting places is such a ball ache or slow that it can become tiresome.

i trained with my cousin when he went in the marines. we used to run ten miles a day full kit.yet in this game you run 50 metres you done out of breath :p

Vehicles are going to be a game changer. We fixed a few blockers yesterday with them so the patch is getting close.

(Beaten by Guest2!) You didn't sprint for 10 miles in full kit, I can guarantee you that! In game you can run indefinitely but not sprinting. You can sprint roughly 200m (from memory, I'll get the right number later) which in full fighting order you would be breathing out of your arse!

Have just redownloaded this great game.

However, bit of an odd one...SteamVR and my Vive headset start up when i try to launch the game. It loads, but when i then close steamVR the game shuts down too.

It's an engine bug that we are tracking down. UE4 is so excited for VR it just starts up in VR mode if it detects a VR device.

There is no "solution", except unplugging. For now...

no but you we were running for the ten miles or jogging.you cant in squad you tire quickly and then its slow snail time until it recharges.

you run for a short distance then like a asthma sufferer.

You've never ran wearing a full combat load. Sprinting should be used for crossing open areas, when under fire etc not for simple sprinting from place to place. Stamina management is a thing.
