***Official Squad Thread***

Being able to mantle over obstacles will come with the animation system in v10. No ETA for that currently. Running will probably be kept as is roughly. You're a soldier carrying a lot of weight. You can't run or jump very well with a full combat load on lol.

As mentioned, crouch jump is your friend for the time being. Pretend you are Gordon Freeman for now.

Managing stamina is something I see people ignore often. They sprint all the time everywhere and when they get into a contact then have no stamina left to actually move and shoot properly.

Ah this conversation again :)

You were not running for 10 miles a day with proper infantry "combat load", I can promise you that. I completed my All Arms Commando course and have a couple of tours of Afghan behind me as a combat medic. The other guy on the team was a mortar man in the marines and knows a fair bit about what a combat weight is.

Aaannnnyway! Enjoy the weekend guys, I'm away for all of it. Enjoy Squad!

A new hotfix version for the test build.

Patchnotes: EAC works now with this build so you can launch Squad the normal way

*Fixed a memory crash by applying a patch to NVidia PhysX 3.4 binaries

*Fixed a bug in the scoreboard where squad widgets aren't being destroyed when the squad is destroyed causing stutters and performance issues

*Fixed shielded technical collision causing it to go flying

*Fixed floating periscope on BRDM-2

*Fixed the last player not showing on the scoreboard due to scroll

*Fixed Scoreboard and squad listings not working in local

*Fixed scoreboard text in scoreboard being a text box insteak of a text block

*Adjusted the bold/thin columns on the Scoreboard to be more logical (main score was unbolded)

We have several more performance and crash fixes coming but the process of building and uploading to steam takes several hours. We decided to push this version to you since it addresses the most critical issues.

One fix in the next version will include the steam inventory items (weapon skins) causing memory leaks and potentially crashes. For now we recommend everyone turns their inventory items off in the ingame settings.

Xcept1 mate. any chance of giving a shout to someone at EAC, since last EAC or Squad update, me and a few friends cant play Squad at the moment, below is what i posted on another forum, but no reply yet, thx

Will bump them about it now.

Edit - Are you getting errors specifically related to the dll?

There will be a playtest for the a9.1 hotfix which includes an attempted fix for the EAC disconnects on Wednesday 19:00 UTC. To test it, we need to play several rounds on a full server. In our internal testing there has been an occasional 'Corrupted packet' error message, but we have not yet found the cause of it. Anyone who gets this error or any other issue is kindly requested to contact QA staff on discord. Password and patchnotes will be released in advance.

Playtest has started and will go on for several hours, just playing regular fun games. Branch password is dontkickmepls . To activate it, go to Properties of Squad in Steam, click the Betas tab, and enter the build password. http://prnt.sc/ekq3jg . (Don't worry, it's a small download.) Please bring all your friends to fill up the servers!

Any update on when we might get the new walking animations and free look ? I saw the video showcasing both but was wondering how far off it is ? weeks, months, year ?

No set date but probably another couple of months as v10 is going to be a massive game change with lots of changes coming in.

Working fine again for me with Reshade :)

Excellent, cheers for the info!

Any modders here? SDK A-9 is uploading as we speak. Usually takes overnight to update and then the rest of day for epic to push it. Possibly released in approx 24 hours! Get ready! It's all happening!

Free Weekend April 6th - 10th + New Map!

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Hot on the exhaust trail of our A9 release and the inevitable hotfix, we are very excited to make some announcements today about upcoming events in the Squad timeline.

In conjunction with pivoting our team into Alpha 10 release, we wanted to bring some more content to the player base and open up the game to a greater audience before the completion of our core feature set.

We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday, April 6th at approx 10 am PST we will be launching our second Squad free weekend. As a thank you to our player base we would like to offer you a redux of one of our favorite classic Project Reality maps (To be hot fixed in on Wednesday). Also, Squad will be on sale for 50% off for the duration of the free weekend!!! (April 6th 10 am PST to April 10th 10 am PST)

Al Basrah Free Weekend!

Huge shout out to the original creator Duckhunt from the Project Reality team and the Redux creator, our very own community modder ChanceBrahh.

This map gives Squad its first significant dive into urban combat with an expanded urban footprint and a wider surrounding play area. With buildings as large as six stories high and completely enterable we expect to give a hard shake to the US forces dominance meta as insurgents can be anywhere in the city. 100s of windows potentially bristling with RPG rounds ready to spoil the infidels’ day.

Without any further delay, we offer you this trailer to get you ready!

Squad Soundtrack Volume 2!
In response to the popularity of the original soundtrack, Scott Tobin has been hard at work and is happy to bring you volume 2 of his Squad soundtrack. Sometime next week we will offer volume 2 for free to anyone that already owns the original soundtrack, and we will be bundling the two soundtracks together for sale. As part of an enhanced audiophile experience, Scott has also added full fidelity FLAC versions to the packages for both soundtrack volumes.

You can preview the tracks here:

Please join us in welcoming all the new soldiers to the battlefield April 6th - 10th and helping our new wave of players not absorb too many bullets!

As always the best advocates of Squad are you guys, grunts and squad leaders alike!

Are there any plans to let people lock squads ? I know that goes against "teamwork" but sometimes myself and my friends who don't play that often would like to just go in our own squad and have one of us lead without us having to worry about bossing about random people who join our squad.

Being honest this is one of the reasons we dont play as much as we'd like. If the ability to lock squads was added I reckon we'd play more as we'd be able to chill and enjoy it more without the worry of having random squad members rely on us.

Possibly in the future.

Basrah?! Great move, probably my favourite map on PR! Needs grappling hooks though!!

Combat ladders, Benny. Combat ladders!

Oh and I forgot to mention...

Melbo. In your honest opinion what is the fps like on Al Basrah ?

I've not yet played it on a full server but from what I have played it should be fine.

CCFN will be using Al Basrah tonight so hopefully there will be room for me to jump in and I'll check the fps.
