Only £350 instead of £500!!.. (Rain Forrest)

Though I will probly use it for chopping stuff, and making Smoothies and Milkshakes!.. Mmmmm Chocolate Milkshake!!

I have one pretty much the same at work (I'm a chef), with a few more attachments, they are great machines. BUT in 2 years of average use, the speed controller had gone twice at a cost of £95 each time. Was either off or full speed. Not good!!!!

Just a heads up for you.

As someone who knows a bit about RC engines as I fly planes and helis, I am curious why you need a pre-heater for your engine?

I would have thought after 30 seconds of starting the engine it would be warm enough?

Interested if your opinion on this.

If its a decent engine then it might not even start when cold until its been run in for a couple of gallons. And even then its better to heat it.

An RB for example with have a very very tight piston/liner, once the engine is warm this loosens off a bit. Running the engine cold will wear that piston/liner faster and so you lose compression.

Plenty of people who had RBs and other high end engines have had the piston get stuck at tdc as it wasn't warmed up enough to loosen up. To run in my RB engine in I put half a gallon of fuel through it as rich as possible to keep it lubed with no wheels on at all to remove any strain, all while heating the engine with a heat gun to keep temps up (running that rich cools it down very fast). I think I was draining a tank in 4 minutes, when it was running normally I think I got about 11.

F1 cars are also pre heated before they fire them up as the just won't start without being hot.

I get my fuel online from www.modelsport.co.uk. I'm guessing it's a nitro fuelled RC instead of actual petrol. The pink stuff in the pic below is the fuel I use :)

The other things I've bought this month are the 12v gel cell battery, the engine pre-heater sitting on top of the engine and the transmitter case.

Frankly I'm not too sure.... But believed it was petrol.... How would I know off the top of my head?

Hmm looking at the site, the engine looks the same as the ones listed under the nitro set... Although god knows what the massive thing on your engine is..... Also off road it looks like for you?

Thrustmaster F430 Force Feedback Wheel

Will only get used for "special occasions" unfortunately as I have to perform surgery to get the thing ready to use with my desk. Might take it back for a refund for that reason!

Take the picture yourself did you?

No?

Then don't post it! See the first post of the thread.

Basically what DBT said below. Race engines are very tight when new and having a pre-heater helps a lot when starting, especially if the weather is cold. It also helps cut down wear on the internals.

I run an Alpha in the truggy, it's about half a gallon old but already very quick. Certaintly quick enough to race with. I was lucky that it didn't get stuck at TDC much when it was first started, my mate's Novarossi was a pig for the first 3 tanks though :D

Sounds like you have a nitro then :) Any nitro fuel about 25% should be ok for your engine. The big thing on the engine is just a pre-heater, the engine is underneath it. And yeah, it's off road. 1/8th scale truggy :)

I remember the days! I think my RB got stuck twice at TDC before I even managed to fire it up for the first time!

Shame Gotnitro and Nitronutters shut down.

More Gold Wispas than you can shake a stick at...*drools*

My girlfriends dad bought us a box (48 bars), I don't usually eat chocolate bars but these are so nice!

I've bought a couple of books to read through:

Darkly Dreaming Dexter - almost finished this, it's a great read and if you like the show I would recommend it.
The Maltease Falcon - was on sale and the the film is a classic.
