***Official Wrath of the Lich King Thread***(Contains spoilers)***

You're totally off the mark. 2000 spell power unbuffed is something reserved for only the most hardened raiding shadow priests, most guys just coming up to their first raids typically have 1700-1800 as a good starting point, and 289 spell hit which is the cap with misery included. 250 isn't anywhere near enough, shadow priests with that amount will miss a fair bit. Sure it's only a low miss chance, but if that devouring plague misses, it's a substantial amount of DPS lost. Getting to the spell hit cap is much more important than increasing spell power.

Shadow priests aspiring to start the endgame should aim for 289 spellhit, then work on their spell power if they want a good foundation.
Well I was giving him numbers to aim for, not necessarily something to start with.

263 spell hit is plenty for a shadow priest if they have a draenei in the group (10%) if not then they need the full 289.

1% less hit = 1% spell miss, exactly barring rng failures, so damage output will be 1% and change higher for each 1% spell hit.

Hit rating is the number 1 stats for raiding with ANY class as it is the only stat that guarantees 1:1 return on investment.

Icewalker, precision and accuracy enchants are all worth a look as are gems.

2000+ spell power with 250 spell hit is horribly unbalanced though :p
Dunno. I had 350 hit at one point then started to swap for crit. Admittedly I'm at 290 hit now, and never seem to miss. I guess thats because I'm at the needed level :p. I thought I had less hit then that!

It's nigh-on impossible to get hit perfectly on 289 or so. The nearer to the cap you are, the more use you are making of your gear's itemization, as a priest with 350 or so hit is wasting stats so to speak. For a time I was bouncing between 290 and 360 hit, it is ridiculously hard to balance right.

This is where I'm currently at.

If I get one of the best in slot robes or best in slot bracers for example, I'd lose hit. The +hit conundrum makes me more inflexible than I'd like to be, there's hardly any room to change gear unless I invest in getting a fair amount of drops all at once that have dim chances of dropping!

Well, you could socket a few hit gems I suppose. In the legs that would also give you 6 more crit. I need gear in a few slots but I'm saving dkp for ulduar.

Tbh mate you need more crit and spirit.

The crit % is fine, and spirit is overrated. I could never understand the demand for spirit by some shadow priests. As it is, 10 spirit = 1 spell power. Hardly worth it. It's the most 'heavy' stat (ie, you get the least returns from spirit than you do for any other caster stat).

Improved Spirit Tap maybe?

Mana regen isn't a problem. I can understand the value of it to SPs in early raiding, as they could benefit from it more, but it's gotten to the point where my mana pool is so large that replenishment brings back more than enough to cover even the longest fights.

I was considering dropping spirit tap/imp. spirit tap next patch because they've moved darkness to tier 1, but given the incoming changes to mana regeneration I don't think I will.

Besides, with my intended (and tested) spec, I've no real reason too.

I have a 71 Hunter and a 46 Druid? Which to level? :p
May level the druid as I want to do some tanking...

Any hints on how to be a better druid tank?

How long do people think Blizzard can keep it going for? Its been 5 years now, and subscribers are still growing fairly rapidly. I does amaze me to think that in another 5 years its very likely to still be here.

Indefinitely I would say, or at least until we as human lose our materialistic ways.

WoW players basically spend 24mths improving their character with new gear etc and then every now and then Blizzard release an expansion and puts them back to square one, the cycle repeats.

I think at some point Blizzard are going to have to start crafting WoW 2. Just continually adding expansion packs with wear thin and another MMO will come out and knock it off the top spot.

Blizzard stated after TBC that there wouldn't be a WoW 2.
