^ Thats brilliant!

Just ran again and got that! :D
I, er, may have ended the test early tho... ;)

EDIT: Proper result

Bottom line is
Uncached Read 137 25.42 MB/sec [256k blocks]

it would seem that it is the HDD that affects performance the most (at least on this benchmark test.)

WotDa
MBP - 15" C2D 2.33Ghz, 2Gb Ram.
10.5.1

Notes: Benchmark was run from the .dmg, Firefox was open with 2 tabs, Last.fm open.
The HDD let me down... Been thinking of changing it anyway. ;)

I do wonder why people bother getting OS X onto a normal PC.

You know I've never felt the need :p

Perhaps people aren't sure they will get on with OS X so instead of dropping cash on a whole new system, want to try it out instead? Perhaps they aren't bothered what the hardware looks like?

Who knows, but this isn't the place to talk about it anyways.

No? After articles on such mainstream sites as (snippity snip snip) surely we are able to discuss many aspects in a similar way without breaking any rules. In fact talking about the performance of such systems is okay as shown by the posts above.

I meant this thread, not this forum ;)

EDIT: That was a ninja edit of yours there :)

Here's mine:

It's an E1260 running at 3GHz, 4GB RAM, 7300GT on a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R.

The HDD is a pretty old Seagate 7200.7 so might pulling the score down a bit...
