Offline GPS navigation

Hello all,

What I'm asking for might be a longshot but here goes.

I've recently purchased an Asus Vivotab Smart tablet that is running Windows 8 (non RT) and I'd like to use it for gps navigation without an active internet connection for travelling across Europe.

Did quite a bit of research online and I've managed to get the GPS to work. Now using Centrafuse Localizer to simulate a virtual port over the GNSS.

I've gone for MapFactors Navigator 14 (free version) for navigation & downloaded the maps I need for my trip.

The issue is that the navigation doesn't seem to be working without an active internet connection which I do not have.

Is there any free offline navigation software that would work for me?

Not sure if I'm posting under the correct section (mods?)

Thanks in advance.

google maps only cache's areas iirc? and you have to do the ok maps thing to get it to do it. I tried it a little while back without much joy

Thanks for the suggestions peeps but the options listed are Android or Windows Phone based.

My tablet is running Windows 8 Home. Would any of the above work properly on it?

I downloaded CoPilot for Android and the European map pack when I drove to France last year because everything is stored in your device. Quite expensive for an app, but still cheaper than a dedicated Sat nav and did the job just as well.

Don't buy a sat nav, you'll end up paying through the nose for map updates, in some cases it costs as much for new maps as it does for a new sat nav. An android phone is far cheaper in the long run.
