Ogi Wales

What is the install time like with Ogi?

Hopefully moving soon and need broadband as soon as I move in. Contemplating Ogi but not sure if they'll be hassle trying to pull up road or route cables to the house. I know the main roads are done but no idea how far up the side streets they have got.

I requested an install on their website on a Monday, the earliest date I could get was Thursday the same week.

On the Wednesday afternoon 2 guys turned up to do the first part of the install unannounced. They pulled Ogi sub ducting from an openreach chamber further up on my estate to my house. My estate is about 15 years old so all telecoms is underground ducting. In fairness, if I hadn't been home I would have never know they had been.

Install went to plan on the Thursday morning, took them about an hour all in. I was the engineers first install on the POP or something and they couldn't physically find the cabinet for 20 minutes.

Cool so it’s all working now then?

Using my own kit too, obviously using their fibre modem, then ethernet from that to the wan port on my router.

How is this setup? Please be gentle with me I'm a mechanical engineer. Does you kit connect directly to the ONT on the wall or do you go to their supplied router which has its Wi-Fi turned off and connect your router to this?

I've just had 900Mbps Ogi installed and certain things aren't playing nicely with the Eero routers, and I'm back using my Zen connection at the moment.

The only Ogi supplied device that I'm using is the ONT on the wall. Goes from this to my router.
Yea this...... mind I've had a weird blip at 2:30pm every day. A drop in connectivity for 60 seconds at exactly 2:30 each day for the past week. Raised it via customer care but they are unwilling to help or investigate unless I have my EERO plugged in. I hadn't sold them yet, now thinking I should probably keep at least one!

I guess maybe they're doing further cabinet work at that time. I'm in Haverfordwest, mine is fine at that time.

Maybe connect that up for now, so they can detect issues etc?

As I'm very dense with this, are the Ogi login details stored in the ONT? So all I need to do on my Fritzbox is select the 'Via External Modem' option.
Not familiar with Fritz, but I don't type any details in WAN on my router, no pppoe details etc. Just picks up DHCP and off it goes.

Yea tried connecting them back this afternoon but they couldn't detect the internet. They were directly connected to the ONT, as per their original setup. Even tried resetting them and setting them up again.

Checked my logs and no drop outs, where are you located? I'm in Pembroke.

Managed to get Ogi talking to my Zen supplied Fritz!box router once I'd set it not to use the Zen login details, thankfully it isn't locked down.

Quite pleased with the results as I'm not paying the premium for the symmetric speeds.

So getting some odd speed drops

Last night my connection tanked around 10pm to 4.8Mbps then jumped back up to 700ish around midnight just tried another test and it's around 300Mbps at the moment.

Anyone else having issues?

Just wondering what routers you boys are using ? As they’ve supplied me with 2 of the eero routers however they only have 1 Ethernet port when connected to the modem but I need about 3 but I dont really fancy using a Ethernet splitter instead would rather buy a new router in the maximum of £150 price range any good recommendations would be helpful
