Well my launch day 360 had a good run. I tried not to shout about it, nor did I upset the 360 gods (as far as I know), but as of 2:09am Sunday 8th July my 360 gave me my first 3RoL.

I'm some what mellow about it really; I'm no longer an odd one out :D.

I had bought the extra 2 year warranty so I wasn't worried about it dying on me until next year. I guess that even though I would have now been covered by the 3RoL 3 year warranty, I will ask if there is any refund of the extended warranty that I've purchased (won't do any harm in finding out).

Anyway, to all those that have me on there Live! friends list, I guess I will be taking a short holiday from you all. I might go and see what that yellow shaped ball of fire is outside my window :D

Oh, and before I go... for those who want to know what the straw that finally broke the camel's back was...

Catan!!

Yes the graphically demanding, CPU pushing, AI intensive Catan! A quiet game before I planned to go to bed ended up with the solider card being dealt where upon the console froze with a massive picture of the solider card on screen :D.

LOL, glad I'm not the only one who does that. :)

Course now it will break.

Ive had the 3 ROL about 9 times now, normally a restart, unplug, turn off the mains etc then turn back on and my XBOX is fine.

are you guys sending them away as soon as it happens ?

was playing forza the other night and got the 3ROL 4 times in a row followed by constant freezing about 10 seconds into a game.

turned off the mains went downstairs had me tea came back up and bam back up and running.

until I cant fix it with a restart etc mine is staying where it is :p

Its your fault Zico, you mistreated the console. Do what everyone else does, go on the relevant xbox.com section for Catan and post a huge "catan broke my xbox"

I was in an electrical store yesterday, it was quite amusing. The 360 they had displaying forza was borked. The textures where slightly off and the screen had multi coloured lines running down the screen. No 3 red lights though. They wouldnt be covered :D

Keep your extended warranty for the inevitable disc read errors on the next one.

I guess shaking it and putting it in the oven was the wrong thing to do now in hindsight :D.

Like the idea about the Catan thread though ;).

Not seen a dead one anywhere else until now, and it had to be my own :(. I guess us southerners get the longer lasting consoles :D.

As for the disc read errors, If it is still the case that Microsoft repair and return your own console (unless it is beyond repair) then my Hitachi has again served me well not eating a single disc (though it is a little loud the noise is cancelled out by the 5.1).

I'd still like a x360 but these threads keep inspiring me not to :o

No mate, don't worry about it. If I were in your position now I would still get a 360 as it has the most games across any platform that I want to play.

Put it in contrast with my brother's Wii, he picked that up in March and he's barely played it beyond the end of April.

**Edit**
On second thoughts, if you're not quite 100% yet and prepared to wait a little longer, pick one up nearer christmas (or at least after Halo 3 and GTA IV are out). You will probably be able to pick up a better bargin package.

I played the Wii the other day, MOH and The Godfather are pretty cool though I hate Resi Evil 4 :o

They extended the warranty on the 360 hmmm, well thats a good thing and makes it an option but if only it was more reliable in the first place.

I might have a look for a good package deal at the weekend, that'll give me chance to complete a few other machines lol like the Gamecube I'm doing Mario DDR on.

Didn't the Wii come out on the 8th December?

If so no wonder he wasn't playing it at the end of November :D

My mistake :o. It was a late birthday present from his birthday in October.

oh well i spoke to soon, add mine to the RoL dead pile.

tried to play Forza tonight crashed, restart, crashed, power chord out in, crashed, restart RoL, restart Rol, power chord out crash, restart crash, RoL

and I stopped there going to have to go back this time, its 15 months old though so served me well, thank god microsoft just extended the RoL warranty.

By Trying this from a certain site

-==SECONDARY ERROR CODES==-
The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code

* Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
* Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
* The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.

You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:

* All four lights flashing - 0
* One light flashing - 1
* Two Lights flashing - 2
* Three lights flashing - 3

I get 4143 which = 0103 code =

0103 CPU Error/ CPU Overheating - see solution for error 0102

so going to ring them tomorrow, now to do without my xbox for however long it takes :(

Would have been interesting to find out what error code my box would have given.

Had my 360 picked up yesterday and delivered today. Turnaround should be no longer 25 days from arrival at the repair centre.

I'm going to need to borrow my brother's 360 to view all the E3 marketplace goodies.

My launch day 360 has just died 13 July 2007, time of death 1:01 AM. RIP :(

0022 GPU Error / GPU Overheating is what I got.

Can't see it being overheating as it had only been on 10 mins and I was only watching a dvd.

Any idea where I find the number to get it picked up and fixed?
