Dear Broadband Customer,

Thank you to all of you who took part in our recent survey on broadband charges. We had a great response and, as a result, are now making some changes.

Your Home S service will change from a 25GB to 20GB monthly bandwidth quota on 1st January 2008. Monthly and annual pricing remains unchanged and the same as you pay now.

In addition, we are introducing the option to upgrade to our new Home SO service offering unlimited bandwidth usage between 02.00-07.00, 7 days a week, for just £10 per month extra.

Home SO will be available from 20th November and Home S customers will have the benefit of a free regrade to Home SO if they so choose.

We are changing the way additional bandwidth is provided. From 1st December 2007, the monthly usage allowance will operate as a cap unless additional pre-paid bandwidth usage is purchased.

All additional bandwidth will be pre paid and will be available in the following blocks:

10GB at £13
5GB at £6.75
1GB at £1.40

Users will need to purchase additional bandwidth in order to continue beyond the monthly bandwidth allowance. In addition to purchasing a one off bandwidth upgrade, customers can purchase a regular bandwidth upgrade each month by adding the charge on to their direct debit. All additional bandwidth requirements can be ordered via the online customer portal - click the button on the NewNet home page at http://www.newnet.co.uk

The customer portal provides near real-time access to usage statistics for all Broadband users.

Best regards

NewNet Broadband Team.

So let me get this right. Not only have they reduced my monthly bandwidth limit, but if i go over that my connection just drops? Dies? What the hell..!?

There was a related note mentioned on AG/TBB too here.

Hit the cap and everything breaks unless you pay in advance is how Zen work. I can't say I'm a fan of it as a system, but I've so far never hit the 100GB limit on home2000.

How naive can you be asking certain customers to pay the same monthly fee and then remove 20% of their product!
