Oh dear, please help?

Ok fitted my new true today, was overclocking ever so nicely with it fitted. Was running prime95 with it clocked at 3.9 when my pc suddenly turned off. I now can't turn it back on. Any ideas? Hope to god nothing has broken...
 
Ignore that, I have tried a reset yes. Still nothing. Is the next step removing the battery? Looks fiddley!

Usualy around by the battery, the P5Q version has the jumper in front of the IDE port labled CLRTC.
 
Ok it seems my Psu is bust. Tried it on a mates computer and that wouldn't fire up. AND! I tried his psu in mine and that didn't fire up either! Have I royally screwed up my MB as well?!

Is the pc the one in your sig, if yes what voltages did you set up in the BIOS.

Can you swop any components around ie ram and cpu.
 
What PSU is it?
Its unlikely but not impossible, it'd normally be the result of the PSU going out in style, and you'd notice.
Only way you can check is to swap each individual component to rule things out
 
It sure is, I went up to 1.5 on the cpu, and 2.0 on the ram. I didn't think these were high at all?

The PSU is some cheapy one that came with the case. Its a 600w 'Win Power' apparently :P

I really dont want to try swapping the cpu as the true was a pain in the arse to fit haha. But i'm guessing I will have to :(
 
1.5 should be fine, but you dont want to be going much higher, I know duals are 1.4-1.45 max safe and quads can go a bit higher
leave the CPU til last :D
If your mates system works fine with all his bits then try your RAM in his, make sure it works, then gfx etc etc
 
Good news (kind of?), its just the PSU! When I was testing his psu with my system I left the jumper on clear hehe. Oops! Thank god for that! Good job I just bought a new one! However it is being delivered home and I am at uni til next week. GAY!
 
You are lucky the cheap PSU didnt take out anything else most people learn the hard way not to use crappy PSUs consider yourself very lucky.
 
I might be lucky in that aspect, but my external hard drive broke today also! 2nd one in about 2 weeks....

Bringing up this topic again...Finally got my new PSU, and installed it. But now it won't turn on. I have checked all the cables a hundred times. I this a case of faulty PSU or do you think I have actually damaged something else? Though like I said, I managed to make it turn on using a friends PSU.
 
Its possible the backplate on the TRUE (if you've fitted it) is shorting out something - either by metal contact or from being on too tight... this can sometimes cause intermittent faults so sometimes it might boot and other times not...
 
To check the new psu, remove the 24 pin ATX connector and link out pins 13 & 14 with a paper clip. I would do this with only a fan attached and remove all connectors from the board ect.
 
I guess a staple would work? I cant find a paper clip! Haha. What will happen then when I connect them? How do I turn it on also if its not connected to my mobo.
 
Ok ignore that, I did it and it worked, the fan span! So then, should I remove my MB to see if the back plate is causing it to short? (How would I know if it is?)
