depending on the replies i will link him to this thread... im sure u will understand what im getting at!

help me!

Just LOL!

I mean hes only running 2gig of ram!.....

Right in seriousness just kick him as 1024x768 is a pathetic resolution to be running such a top spec pc at! He can have my 7800gt (ill have the gx2) as it will run games about as good at that resolution.... (exageration but you know what i mean)

Then again if hes foolish enough to get another gx2 and meet the massive problems that are found with SLI and not get a propper screen hes probably worth leaving in a dark dark ally....

Smack him round the head with that monitor and tell him not to be stupid, spend some money on a new monitor for gods sake and make that GPU do some work.

He is either a CRT faboy who belives the refresh rates of his CRT will never be matched by a TFT, or he is stupid!

Either way, a decent 22" will shut him up!

What a muppet. All that money and he's running a 15" crt. Please don't tell me he's running it at 800x600?

Instead of the second GX2 he should get a 24-30" monitor to actually make use of the one he has already.

man he needs atleast 22" for a single 9800gx2. who even uses 15' at those specs.

edit: and if he will use two 9800gx2 he will need 64 os

this thread just made my day

awesome stuff that's like having a top of the range sports car and sticking to first gear.

If he's going to keep with old monitor he can swap with my single core 2 gig venice chip hehe.

Why is it that when someone logs into this site and asks for advice, he is called an idiot! Perhaps a little bit of diplomacy is required even when he or his friend has got it all wrong. We all have to start somewhere.

Perhaps a response such as;

1. Overclock the CPU as fast as he can but make sure it is stable.
2. Get a monitor that is more appropriate for the spec of the rest of the system, such as a 22" or even a 24" LCD.

I think this is entirely the response he wanted to show his mate the futility of having a GPU that would run a 24 inch LCD no problem, and yet he is running it on a 15 inch CRT and considering getting another GPU to run in SLI..

Then perhaps a response such as: It is not a good idea to use this monitor (giving the reasons also) and you should seriously consider purchasing this size or that size and here are some examples. Not "your friend is an idiot or a muppet". Those answers are not constructive for people who come here for advice from people who know what they are talking about and have been in the trade building and repairing systems for many years.
