so what you saying, the currunt topend ati card is more than enough to play the latest games ?, I'm sorry but a strongly disagree,

I find it crazy how ati fanboys will hangon for months and months when there are cards out like the 8800gts/gtx that are leagues ahead in performance compared to anything ati curruntly has on offer and they could be enjoying games at 1920x1200 maxed out at very smooth frame rates, no doubt I will get a response along the lines of "my x1900xt plays everying maxed out *** you going on about", I guess in cases like this it boils down to what you percive as acceptable/enjoyable playable frame rate.

im no fan boy, but i can honestly say that my x1900xt is crap. have to run rainbow six vegas at 1024x768 with some details dropped to get reasonable performance.

Splinter cell double agent runs crap if all details are maxxed out even at 1280x960.

few other games out there too that my x1900xt struggles on, like marvel ultimate alliance and tomb raider legend when next gen content is enabled.

whoever says an x1900 card can run every game out there is telling the truth it can run the game. even a slideshow is considered as "running" to them

Are you honestly suprised, the card is over a year old i also agree it really is starting to show its age now.

I wont say my card is the fastest, but to be honest, and fair, not elitist, the X1900XT CAN run pretty much everything at high details, often with some filtering, the games mentioned above are generally considered rather poor pieces of programming, i can even quote you from another thread Cybermav
'the unreal engine 3 is crap. look at rainbow 6 vegas, its gfx are like GRAW but require even more hardware specs', so using this game as a basis for argument on the card is a little poor, and SC is despised almost universally as both a poor game, and poorly coded conversion that makes incredibly poor use of even the most powerful of systems.

With the right settings the x1900xt CAN play pretty much everything well, especially if the game's well coded, its just not the top dog anymore, and it is still a lot faster than a lot of other cards out there.

Fear, Oblivion AA+HDR+Mod texture packs, Supreme Commander, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic the list goes on, its not the fastest at all times, and sometimes you get some slowdown, but Im not talking teen fps here; but from this thread you'd think it was terrible, but its not, it still offers perfectly adequate performance for all but the most demanding of games/users at pretty high settings. This is coming from a user who used to enjoy getting some of his games like farcry to run max settings and filtering at 2048x1536 res on his CRT before moving to my current widescreen LCD.

To say anything else is to ignore that a lot of gamers, especially casual gamers are more than content to play with weaker cards in new games, like the 7600GT.

You bring up a very good point here, ill of had my X1900XT a year on the 16th of March, and up to now its been very very good ive even managed to squeeze some more perf out of it, its a really solid card and i think it has at least another 4 months in it. So will be fine for me until the R600 drops, i won't be selling my X1900XT either, i wont get much for it by the time the r600 comes and i cant get much for it now so may aswell keep as a spare or to go in another machine. X1900XT the card that keeps on giving. :D

I think the main problem here is that people are playing crappy console ports like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (which is a good game IMO, but still a horribly-optimised console port), Rainbow Six: Vegas, Splinter Cell and other such games on their X1900/X1950 and expecting it to run well. I wouldn't expect those games to run well on my 8800GTS, never mind when I had an X1900XT.

Tried Armed assault? Fear? R6 Vegas?

Dude, did you read my post??

I said it plays all the games I PLAY on maximum except Oblivion.

If I start playing a game that craps out my card, then it's time to upgrade, but all the games I play are fine on my set-up.

Max settings in CS:S brings me down to a lowly 70-100FPS.

I have a TFT monitor with a refresh rate of 75FPS at 1280x1024, so i cap my FPS at 75. If it doesn't hit that at max settings i turn it down, and that so far i've only had to do that with oblivion.
