Oh my God, what the hell have I bought yet again!?

Im wanting to get one of these, whats the quality like?

Also, whats the diameter, how deep and where from :)

I know theres a guy on retro-rides selling them.

Random ebay seller - I think they are all made in the same dodgy Thai factory to be honest. Quality seems fine but time will tell how long the alcantara lasts.

That said, it doesn't last brilliantly on genuine wheels either. I'll measure the dish etc. when it's light :D

Stage 1 of my "re-vamp interior lights" mini-project

Puddle lights:

Relatively simple to do, just take a live feed from pretty much anywhere and then connect the earth to the courtesy light switches. The difficult part is feeding the wires through the trim and to the dashboard as always with things like this.

Despite appearances the lights are actually white not blue, they have a slight blue caste to them like all white LEDs but the main thing is they are BRIGHT which was what I wanted.

I love those OMP wheels...pretty much the only thing I'd consider if I was getting an aftermarket wheel.

You need to make it hover next clearly! :D

Looking amazing - next time I come up can I have a spine please? One like you gave me in the 200sx! :D

Looks awesome :D

What's next on the list?

More lights! The boot needs lighting, I want footwell lights in the back, possibly a rear interior light, underbonnet lights, and new instrument lights.

I'm using SM LED strips, the ones that chavs use to look like Audi DRLs. Super cheap and very bright!

Yep, I would love a real Corsica but at £130 that's over double the cost of the replica and they still don't wear very well. Seriously happy with the replica!

You need to come up in the rain or snow then, it hasn't got enough power to play in the dry :o

Nice one :) - Tempted to add more interior lights to the Coupe, probably the only thing I find annoying about it, it's got one behind the 2 front seats, so if anyones in the front it creates shadow and you can't see sod all.

Not updated this in ages! Done absolutely nothing to the Manta other than drive it.

Today I started to have a look at some areas where I know corrosion has been brewing and this is what I found....

Manta179.jpg

Err, where did all that rotten metal come from?

Manta180.jpg

Oh, silly me! It came from my rear valance!

Manta181.jpg

Other side nowhere near as bad despite the exhaust knocking on it.

Manta182.jpg

This is going to have to be cut out too....

Manta183.jpg

Reckon I'll save the arches

Manta184.jpg

Oh dear that's not good either.

Manta185.jpg

Repair patch made, just need to weld it in.

Going to be a few late nights ahead, that's just the back end...

If you're painting it then do the old Andrews livery, looks so right on the manta! Appreciate you may not want to do the arches, but come on, they need replacing from the look of things, wide is the only way ;)

Edit: its actually the wrong shape manta for a heat for hire replica...

I love this thread! given me so many ideas for my manta as well as things i'll need to sort out sooner or later.

How much was the welding setup your using (and what is it?) if you dont mind me asking. I have a feeling im going to be doing a lot on mine come the next year.

Has it been that long already? Time flies..

Give it another 3 years and there won't be any original metal left :D

I have a Clarke 110 EN - which can be used gasless or with gas. Gasless ability is very useful because you can weld a lot better outside in the wind with gasless - although the weld itself is generally not as pretty. Gasless wire is VERY expensive, but still cheaper than hiring and keeping a bottle full unless you are welding a lot.

If I was going to buy the kit again I'd go for a Clarke 130EN I think, bit more guts than the 110 and still perfectly useable on a 13 amp plug. If you go up to a 151EN you may find problems with power supply, blowing fuses and so on. Different people have had different experiences on that one and I've not tried, so I can't comment!
