Oh my God, what the hell have I bought yet again!?

Mantas are awesome, I've always liked them. Sure, the notchback is the better looking, but meh...

Love it mate, and it NEEDS and XE.

I like the Manta... especially when the back wheels lock up when you're changing down a gear

aww bugger - sorry to hear that.

hope the **** suffers for it. :(
Christ...She okay?

Wait...If the engine's still working from the SX...

;)

Linky :(

The engine is fine. Rad/fan knackered, but that's all. However, if can buy her back at a reasonable price, we'll be trying to get her back on the road again. The damage is fixable (it'll have to be a project due to time/money) and there aren't that many standard SX's around so I'd be struggling to get another one.

Leon, it looks like a complete heap of crap :)

Just up your street, congratulations :D

You'd hate it.

No electric anything.
Loads of wind noise because the pillarless doors never seal very well. Dim instrument lighting.
Rough, coarse engine.

At least I can hand on heart say it's in very good condition, bar the rushed paint job. Might try some wet sanding and polishing on a hidden area like the rear valance to see how it buffs up, but the roof is the worst bit and just needs more paint on it to be honest.

Phate, I can't believe you have never heard of a Manta! LOL. I'll bring it to the next RR and you can all admire your lack of reflections in the paint :D

With regards to the Volvo I think I'll just replace the exhaust as it's blowing quite loudly now and pop it up for sale for some random figure. It still has MOT til' next Feb so it's got to be worth a few hundred to somebody.

Nice looking motor, always been a fan of that look, hopefully with a polish and that she'll look great. I'd probably never own one because I worry about old cars in the same way I worry about my nan :D

Koop or notchback?

Sorry, saw this on Pistonheads the other week and thought of you:

Coupé - past participle of the French verb 'couper', to cut, referring to the traditional low roofline of such bodystyles.

Coop - small hut used for keeping chickens.

Doesn't quite have the same cutting wit to it due to your insistance on randomly using a 'K' for no reason but what the hell.

Yup, it would be ;)
Can you give me the spec of it purlease, so I can grab a quote.

I'm fully aware of the etymology of the word coupe.

It's an old in-joke from another forum that's stuck. K for the same reason that Kustom is different to Custom.

If you don't get hot rod/c/kustom history and understand the bitching that goes on between different 'factions' both here and in the states then you won't get it.

Suffice to say, 'koop' somehow manages to annoy everyone so it stuck.

Good choice of motah! 400 front lights according to Steve At Work.

Coop - also the correct term when referring to 30's American coupes and openly recognised as being used to keep chickens in by roadster owners :D

I know I'm to late, but I'm new it from those alloys without a doubt!

same here, sad isn't it :)

nice car lopez, i have / prefer the coupe shape but many people have said that the hatch actually handles better.. down to the lower fueltank position or the extra glass in the back end i guess

I'm well aware of 'Coop' being used to refer to american cars. It just grates a little when Penski starts refering to any Coupé as a 'Koop' but then given that his stated aim seems to be to annoy people maybe I'll try to let it go :p ;)

Anyway, I'd love to get back O/T but unfortunately I can't seem to see the pics :(
