I can't believe I'm posting one of *these* threads! I've only last week booked a last minute holiday to Greece with the girlfriend (flying out on the 8th Sep) and I've just realised my passport ran out in March! March ffs!!

Straight on the phone tomorrow morning for an emergency appointment. Has anyone had to do this? What are my chances of getting an appointment at the London office?

I think my girlfriend is going to stab me in my sleep :(

Really good and it doesn't take that long really ....

Given all the reports recently about a horrific backlog, I think you're pretty much lacking a paddle while trying to navigate that creek

I had this issue 2 years ago lol, I called up London office for an appointment but they said they were fully book and turning up in the morning is a slim chance they would see me as they are super busy.

They recommended that I queue up at the Northampton branch at opening hours instead of London branch as it was less busier. I managed to get the passport the same day but took half a day to process

In next weeks' GD:

Hey guys, I need to pay for a holiday I couldn't go on because my passport was out of date and now my girlfriend has left me and, I don't know, it's all getting a bit much, what should I do?

I did this 4 years ago, only realised the morning of my flight that my passport had expired. Got a 7am appointment the next day on Durham (I live in Bristol) and changed my flights to go from Nottingham instead too. Was major faff, expensive and knackering but pretty good they could do it that quick and I only lost a day's holiday.

I did it when I needed to be sent on a business trip at short notice and mine had just run out... turned up in person at the office in the morning, collected it after work in the evening - was pretty much drama free....

This could be a really good excuse to break up with your girlfriend. I mean, she doesn't deserve you - look at you, all buff and bronzed, literally a god amongst men - and then there's her. I'm not spreading gossip but I heard that she was talking to Kevin - yes, that Kevin - about how she could do better than you and he has a passport! He could take her to Sardinia or Torquay!

If that did happen - and I'm not sure it will, I'm just pushing this boat out into the 'what if' ocean - should we get a place together? You know, just till things calm down and what not. Say, do you like films about Gladiators?

Same here.

Turned up 10 minutes before the London office opened and was seen with 20 minutes.

Renewal took 5 minutes and passport was ready to collect at 5pm.
