Oh no. Gigabyte 7970 lockups in wow. I'll be returning this for a 680 methinks.

Look, why are you getting all butt hurt? I only stated facts about nvidia forum being down, or why its been down sooo long... maybe, you can explain for us, since we cant tell from nvidia`s ass from your head.

Edit: people are getting angry, that forum needs to come online asap, and should be as it was, with all posts intact...now run along and make sure it happens lol

I'm not. Your rubbish conspiracy theories belong in the playground.

The only fact you've posted is that the forums are down. I don't know why you're speculating further without any kind of thread to go on or evidence to elaborate further on.

The fact is that you're basically just making things up.

Allot of people went to the nvidia forums when they had a problem with nvidia drivers, people also referred to nvidia, when showing people (new buyers) the problems nvidia were having e.g. The stutter fest, bugs, broken sli and many-many other problems. So, what was nvidia`s answer to all of this (e.g. users linking to nvidia forums), well, nvidia panicked and left everyone in the cold, shut down their forums. People said "it was hacked" and some said "nvidia is no hurry to bring their forums online" or whatever, but i would say, it was very convenient in favour of nvidia, the so called hacking that is, i just hope people left out to dry learn from this.

"We are continuing to complete work on strengthening security for the NVIDIA Forums.
We expect to bring this site back online soon. Thanks for your patience"
nvidia

What a joke right? anyone want a bet, that nvidia will wipe the forums clean bcoz it got soo bad or had nvidia allowed the forums to continue, it would have got publicly rap*d.

The truth is out there....

look, nvidia having bad buggy (Stutter fest) drivers is one thing, closing the forums so people cant complain is entirely anther. I hope people can see that nvidia are offering no support for their products (Thats not me but nvidia saying it by closing their support forms).

Good luck with any support from nvidia

That was so long ago. Nobody reporting stutters on here now, so I assume the recent drivers have sorted that. Please don't live in the past bud...Move on :)

Actually it is you saying it. I have not seen Nvidia say "We are closing our forums so no support for you" Also a little thing called email is available.

Good luck with any support from nvidia

I am sure we will be fine but thanks for the concern :)

Both Nvidia and AMD are ****, screw you guys, I'm going powerVR

Intel onboard GFX all the way for me....No stutter or driver problems with them :)

AMD moderate their forums to remove any bad postings about their drivers.

Nvidia are just as guilty of that I'm afraid Rusty, the stutter thread was terrible for deleted posts. :(

They're both as bad as each other.

+1

It's not a dig but the cynic in me wonders why the Nvidia forum isn't back up, after all it's just a forum, there is no credit details stored on it.

I think Neil Armstrong tried going to the forum Rusty, but it was one small step too far...

:D

I was also wondering why its still down.
Its been down since July 12, 2012.
How long did it take for Sony, steam ..ect to get their breaches sorted ?

Yea...people are total BSing about their own experiences, and you sounds like one of those people that I mention blaming everything on users (which effectively calling people noobs that don't know how to do something as simple as installing and uninstallng drivers). My post was just my own analysis and quoting what I've seen people posted, with words such as "suspect" and "may be" etc...getting so worked out about it just put you across as a fanboy. Just because you have no problem, it doesn't mean it applies for everyone else; it is like you bought a product and it is perfectly fine after 2 years of usage, where as someone else got the same product, and it stop working after using a month, you claim it must be something messed up on their part when using that product. Things are not as simply one size fit all in this world.

Personally I wouldn't recommend using things like driver sweeper, as while it can help some lucky soul by chance that fixed the problems that they got (the OP of this thread for example), it equally has as much chance on making the problems worse, making a problem that might have been fixable via other means into big problem that can't be resolved without reinstalling the Windows.

I never said I never had problems. I said people shouldn't auto jump to programs like that just because it's thrown about on the forum as a fix to try, using it becomes the norm when in most cases it's not needed at all.

But...but...but....but stuttering is fixed no? See what I did?

Ironically Nvidia actually acknowledged the shuttering problem (which affected minority of the users) and promised a release a fix...which they did

No they haven't:(, Manuel promised a Whql driver when it's 100% fixed, if it was fixed there would have been a Whql release.

All they have released is beta after beta, followed by the 660 without a Whql driver.

This imo, ties in with the forum still not back up, already echoed earlier in the thread on numerous occasions.

If anyone thinks it's been 100% fixed then why haven't we seen a highly publicised PR statement from Nvidia?

Actually specifically for the poor crossfire performance/support, it was generally come from people that got crossfire setup...rest of the people that don't are simply quoting what they read from the end-users. And then we got some people insisting crossfire is fine, that if people that got problem it is caused by user error.

From my own experience and what I read around forums, I suspect that generally when upgrading graphic card, there wouldn't be much problem if the Nvidia driver wasn't fully removed, AMD on the other hand...using standard uninstall is not good enough, and with things leaving behind that could cause all kinds of problem when upgrading to a Nvidia, or even AMD card. And then the only solution is either get lucky with using driver sweeper, or doing a fresh install...

At work, test rig has both Nvidia and AMD drivers installed for testing gpu's, never had any problems.

Home rig has had both Nvidia and AMD drivers installed for Hybrid PhysX, for the last 3 years, never had any driver problems(that I can't blame myself for).

So yes, a lot of the time it can be user error/conflicts, it's not all down to AMD.

may be people should change the word "shuttering" to "crossfire" lol

When did you last have a CrossFire setup that you so often criticise?

You could go down and find out what SLi problems can be found in the Nvidia forums...

...oh, wait a minute isn't that the forum with zero cc details that still hasn't been 'fixed', considering all the 'hackers' stole was email credentials?

(this isn't a bash at SLi, it just gets sooo tiresome hearing about the downfalls/trashing of CrossFire from the usual suspects, if it's worse than SLi, then it's not by very much-or no one would buy into the tech at all-period!)
***Rant over***
