Oh Noes - Mouse and Keyboard action for 360!

You can already hook any KB/M up to the console. If MS release a web browser that will utilise these.

Not Everyone will use KB/M if it is not readily available. I never once saw this emulator product in a store. So I can only assume that it is available online only. I have never played with anyone on live that claimed to be using a KB/M. So as long as it remains a "Non Supported" addaptor. We will never see a large influx of these types of player.

So I will not let it go. I have little need to. I just wish all these KBM fanatics would just drop it, becasue tbh there is no need for them. The gamepad controlers are more than adiquate as the vast majority of console owners will tell you.

You dont read post's ?

The device isnt released yet, but soon to be released... im very sure that soon as it is released you'll see a influx of online kb&m people...IF you believe this isnt the case then see here http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?x360kbm

Ok not hundreds of thousands but enough to upset online play and thats just a number for the petition who managed to come accross the petition? and most xbox360 live user have PC so can easily go online to buy it..

tbh i dont really give a crap i can play with controller have since N64 turok days :D but i can see the great advantage that kb&m would bring as im a avid cs:s player

I know that this should get a nice debate going, based on the Smartjoy FRAG that was released for the original xbox some time ago.
I used to be all for this type of device as I had one. However, now that I am a Live participant I think it will stuff up the fantastic balance that a lot of the games have.

No links sorry as everyone I can find for the device (XFPS 360) is linked to modding etc.

Thoughts/comments?

This will never make it into the main stream unless MS want it to. Which I believe they do not.

If ms choose to, they will close down any company that makes unsupported 360 products.

Sony got stick for that because they prevented consumers from buying their product.

In this case I am suggesting that MS would be protecting the majority of their consumers from what could be percived as cheating.

Big company bullying a smaller company and forcing them to close is bad if it's Sony but good when it's Microsoft. I think I get it :)

If MS started preventing importing I would not support that and be annoyed at MS. If Sony shut down a company that was modding/or instigating cheating on the PS3 I would support Sony's Action.

people are gonna be using kb&m people need to start understanding that.. its gonna happen just waiting for the thing to be released! and MS arnt gonna stop it as the device just emulates the joypad anyhow...

that seems to me like you didnt read my post.. MS will not stop this adaptor just like they havent stopped other certain things that im sure cant be mentioned on here but im sure the 100.000 user registered on another forum will instantly know about this!

How are they being bullies? I am sure they don't mind small companies producing valid joypads as long as they have the appropriate license. I this case I doubt they have the license to produce an approved input device for the 360

And clearly you did not read mine.

There is already products out that do this. The OP has one. But these are not readily available to joe public. As I stated in my post. I have never played anyone that has made claim to using one.

If these were to start being heavily used MS would find out about it as it becomes popular, in the same way they find out about other mods etc and they can put a stop to it at the supply (due to this company not paying a licence to sell goods for the xbox/360). If there is a software way of detecting this then they will utilise that. However I doubt this will be possible.

MS will then be aware of these products and close down any future companys distributing them.

This will mean that only a tiny minority of people will have access to these emulators and as such the probabilty of encountering one such player on line will be infinately small.

Except it isn't cheating or modding, any more than any 3rd party controller is. I expect if MS took the company to court it would be thrown out.

You need a licence to produce a 3rd party controller or adapter? Since when?

this could be a big blow to xbox live in certain games where kb/mouse will prevail over joypad, i remember sonic on DC it was great uploading times until some company released a joypad that allowed sonic to run faster, totally ruined the online aspect of the game.

fact is those using kb/mouse will have an unfair advantage in certain games.

what are you talking about? How is using a controler like "Removing the teams guns".

You are talking nonsence.

If YOU can not use the gamepad right away, practice.

The fact is having the same equipment to play a game is a great leveler and it is skill that provails.
I'm sorry if you do not like the idea of learning a new style of gaming, but if you are that reliant on your keyboard and mouse then I suggest you stick to PC gaming.

no, i was creating an analogy closer to your own - not regarding changing of pads.

you said changing to a key+m would be akin to allowing people to pick up a football in football thus giving some people an advantage. i contested this and said that your example was too extreme and that would be more similar to removing guns from one team on a given game.

i am not reliant on any equipment, however i do prefer a mouse+k for FPS games, as it is a superior control method. how can you be so hypocritical and question my idea for turning to learning a "new style of gaming" and insist that if i dont i should stick to another format? how come the console format ant learn to use both? then surely it would be skillw hich provailed - Not skill at using a joypad for something it wasnt intended, but skill at being good at the game in hand?

Have you actually spent any time playing an Xbox 360 fps?

Many of the people on this forum that have made the translation from PC to 360 have actually said the controls are "Not that bad" and "Supprisingly fun".

One thing I should point out. I used to be a PC gamer a log time ago

The OP said he had one for the xbox.

Well if people start using the keyboard and mouse everyone else will have to buy one as well putting everyone on exactly the same playing field before, just with £££ out of pocket and leaving the noobs who didn't buy one in the gutter

So not buying one of these 'adapters' makes someone a noob, i have never so much rubbish tbh.

While i agree that being able to use a keyboard + mouse combo may effect certain games on xbox live, a disagree with the comments made in this thread regarding the actual hardware itself. When has an emulator ever been as good as the real thing? aside from grey area old arcade emulators, personally i have always been scepticle on the actual effectiveness of these sort of things. Try playing mame games on a keyboard?

Furthermore, while the above may be a bad example when compared to recent technology i feel it still has some relevance when considering this latest 'scare'.

I play quake on the 360 and the capability of some console gamers is scary, constant headshots with the rail gun

The same people shouting noobs here would probably be shouting haxx0r in that situation ;)

I'm not really to be bothered about the issue tbh
