oh noes. PS3 loses another huge exclusive?

Why if a console is able to display those graphics in replay mode, is it so unlikely the same graphics could appear in realtime mode?

Screenshots of replays always look miles more impressive due to the camera angles etc not avaialble in the game in real-time. Look how much more impressive Fifa09 looks for example in screenshots from close-ups or close up replays as opposed to in-game 'tele' cam. Those pictures are NOT representative of what the in-game real-time game will look like when you are playing. same for all games.

id like to see you run it at realtime at 60fps +

The full games engine is to be more advanced particulary in the lighting/shading. The enviroment detail was also mentioned as something they would improve.

Even as GT5P stands regarding consoles its still to date the most technically accomplished. 1080p with 16 cars @ 60 frames and with the most detailed cars yet. Ok thats even if technically its perhaps not a dedicated 1080p

It's not really 1080P though, the resolution is 1280x1080 is it not?

1920x1080 (1080P) is many more pixels than 1280x1080 after all.

Also GT5:P doesn't look anywhere near as good as people seem to make out, yes the cars are detailed, however the rest of the game simply isn't, Killzone 2 is a much bigger achievement to be honest.

Technically thats 1080 vertical lines so is in effect a 1080p resolution just not the one youd expect. Scaling then is used on the horizontal plane.
This has always been one of my assumptions because jaggies within the games current lighting are effected more on the horizontal plane because of this scaling. The scaling must worsen the jaggies and this is noticalable on many of the car selection or winning car screens.

Perhaps the full game will have overcome this and i hope so as on a projector in 1080p hte game is great but the jaggies really stick out.

Regrads FPS these games in generall have seem teh biggest improvement in say graphics over the last 5 years. Racing games even on PC havnt increased as much technically as shooters.
Although GRID and the upcomming DIRT2 F1, SHIFT etc may all look fantastic.

True but when people see 1080P generally they are thinking of 1920x1080 which would be impressive. :p

Personally i dont think most give a damn as most still yet wont have 1080p displays. Same as many console games were not running native 720p so whys this an issue or a problem with GT5 not being full 1080p.

For me if they fix the jaggies issue with better shading/lighting techinque and maybe 2x or 4x AA then it will look really superb. I see this as the games main blemmish, trackside detail etc arnt as important as the cars imo.

These are the things that I think will never happen, at this stage when they are trying to add features to the game, they will not be able to optimise to the point they can introduce real 2xAA.

The mix of visual fidelity they have I think is more then good enough though! I do wish they didn't make such a huge song and dance about 1080p and 60fps, because we already know that they have compromised the game on both counts to not be true 1080p and not truly 60fps all the time.

Quite sad how people are relying on this to have amazing graphics, Forza 2's graphics were pap but the game it self was enjoyable apart from he lack of tracks.

Well considering we've just had quite a few screenies put up and also a picture quiz, its quite understandable that all the talk is about graphics at this point...

I dont see why its sad, Something wrong with wanting the best of both worlds? If the graphics stay as they were in GT5P but the game is released in full, I'd be happy with that, As it's beautiful
