i had 4gb ram in another pc and got 8gb hyperx 8500 for it

plugged it in, booted to windows bluescreened at 992mhz (chip is running 330x9)

i cant get the stuff to boot over 800mhz even with 2.2v

and to top that 2minutes after pluggin it in one of my raptors is now showing a raid error rofl

kingston is satan!!!

Ok things to try..

1. Test each stick on its owen using memtest
2. With all 4 sticks in raise the northbridge voltage slightly
3. Run your system with your CPU @ stock. My Corasair 8500 is rather picky, it runs fine at 1066Mhz but bluescreens at lower speeds
4. If you have an nvidia board try running your RAM : CPU unlinked

Assuming it's an intel chipset, I'd expect the memory controller on the motherboard would struggle to cope with 8G of RAM at over 800MHz TBH. The memory controller was probably only specced for DDR2 800 CAS 5. Your motherboard may claim to support faster, but this is overclocking, and the more sticks of RAM, the harder it will be on the memory controller.

case solved, literally 30mins after this my psu popped

so i quickly ran and got a corsair TX750 single rail jobby

solid as a rock now, and vid in cpuz shows 1.298v when set at 1.3v in bios
no more nasty mega vdrop like before

amazing how much faster the comp feels too, dont know if i was maybe starving it of voltage lol
