Hi Chaps

I have a Citroen C2 VTR on a 05 plate, she has been going well for the last few years, I did have a crash about 6 weeks ago but all was well until now.......

Went to Newcastle on Thurs, she drove well there and back, popped round my brother in laws and stayed for 30 mins. I went to start my car and she wouldnt start just heard a click. Eventually I got it to start but I had no powersteering.

I drove it home and turned the car off, then tried to restart but no go, again my persistance paid off and she started with powersteering. I drove to my local garage for them to look at. A few hours later I get a call saying could be battery/alternator and they would let me know ASAP.

Get another call saying both are ok, and a auto electricain will look at my car to see if they are any electrical issues. I get another call saying he couldnt find a fault and the car was firing ok.....

Great I thought....... its been running fine for the last 2 days or so, then today she wont start again with no powersteering, so bugger it I drove home without P/S, then it started to overheat....

whats wrong with it? can anyone help?

I have a warranty with warranty direct, I am gonna call them on Monday...

Tell your insurance company to sort it. If they wont, get the warrenty company to sort it but dont tell them its recently been crashed and repaired

Hi

Yeah was a front impact, more passengers side though. They replaced bumper/wing/wheel/suspension/wheel & engine mount.

I'm still calling some belt fault.

It's the only thing that connects the battery/alternator,the power steering and the cooling surely?

Actually, the only thing that connects the battery/alternator, the power steering system and cooling is electricity ;)

These have a fully electric power steering system, and I'd be extremely surprised if it didn't use an electric fan setup (Semi Off Topic: Does anyone know of a car with a transverse engine with a belt driven fan?).

In which case, electrical gremlins would easily explain the non starting, cooling issues and the intermittent power steering loss. It'd also make perfect sense - It is French after all :p.

you are right about the steering etc.;)

Best bet would be to hook it up to Lexia and see what it throws up.
Most diagnostic readers will not give you the required info but Lexia is the citroen specific one. Where are you?-i could hook mine up if you were not too far away.

Im in Middlesbrough, prob too far away!

Anyhow, my mate wanted to look at the engine/wiring etc... and I noticed (not 100% sure) and too late to check now, that I dont think it had the oil breather pipe connected properly.... could this cause it?

***edit

Well this morning the car fired up fine....I'm going to phone direct line this morning and explain the situation with them.
