Ok, he is to be hanged......

He's been convicted of killing 148 people, in the grand scheme of things it is kind of stupid when you consider how many British & American troops have died along with other innocent people.

The notion that a court set up by an occupying force can make fair judgements in situations like this is unrealistic. I don't agree with the death sentence for any reason, and in the context of the age of the court, and their inexperience to try cases like this, I don't believe justice has been served.

Whilst I strongly disagreed with our invasion (yes that's what it was) of Iraq and think it's been a horrendous mistake which has significantly destabilised the area, I do at least agree that Hussein himself deserves to die.

Agreed :)

So you support Bush/Blair being tried for warcrimes for causing the deaths of Iraqi troops and civilians then?

Even if he did kill lots of people why should we stoop to his level and kill him, what would it achieve? Surly we in a society more civilised than this...

I agree, but if the “we” refers to the people that captured him, then its actually the USA, and the USA is still uncivilised enough to practice capital punishment.

Bush has killed millions of people, as has Blair. There's no difference between picking up the phone on your desk and standing blasting away with an AK47.

The difference is however, Hussein participated in cold blooded murder.

Yeah, with Saddam he actively went out of his way to do it, with us it was purely accidental (R)

I'll miss him. He was a colourful character and I enjoyed reading the transcripts of his outbursts in court. RIP.

Your previous post infers you believe that Saddam should be prosecuted for deaths of UK/US troops.
I'm saying the whole point in removing Saddam from power and putting him on trial for killling 148, has cost the lives of 120 British soldiers, 2000 Amercan soldiers, and 45,000 civilians.

It's a complete waste of resources.

We dont know that for real, we are only listening to what the media churns out to us and we feed on it whole-heartedly.
If we didnt listen to what the media churns out we would either have to see everything with our own eyes or listen to the grapevine. So we wouldnt even be having this discussion because we probably wouldnt know who Saddam Hussein was, and even if we did we'd probably get the story off one of our mates who relayed it as "Saddam Hussein is medievil robot doctor sent back in time to cure chicken pox."

If you want to know my feelings on this then just have a look at anyother thread like this one and you will see them.

BTW ElRazur have you heard from Megzy lately?

Wouldn't be suprised if there was high def live footage tbh.

If they show anything they will show him before being hung and him hanging there afterwards.

He should have a bag over his head so you cant see his face.

They probably wont show him drop and snap his neck or struggle while he slowly dies(Depends if his neck snaps when he drops or gets lifted)

Its what they showed on the news down here when an Australian Drug Smuggler go hung in Indonesia

A bag over his head? How would we really know that it was him being hanged? Personally, i'd want to see his face, just for peace of mind. A triple hanging would be even better, saddam, blair and bush.
