I need a new car in about 7-14 days. One of the following i'd like but need help choosing it:

I have recently driven:

1. Astra Coupe Turbo = read meim afraid and tooooooo small!
2. BMW 330Ci = Too much £££'s, but prob the best:(
3. Audi S3
4. Honda Accord Type r (about 3-4yrs ago)
5. Skoda Octavia VRS
6. MG ZT 160bhp! - Looking @ 190bhp

Has anyone got their own opinions and ideas.

Having driven a company car for past 3 years having 1 small prang and now losing my 6 years private insurance (with Protection bonus) prior to that i appear to have no no claims (how gay).

So far insurance and prices of above cars ive seen (and can afford) are:

1. Audi - 1999-2001. £8000-£11000, 80k-120k miles, ins £967
2. MG (190) - 2000-2002, £6500-£8000, 30k-60k miles, ins £520.
3. VRS - 2000-2002, £6000-£8500, 40k-80k, again £820
4. Honda -1999-2000, £6200-£7500, 65k-105k, ins £964
5. Toyota MR2 - 1992-1997, £2500-£6500, 50k-120k, £c500

But practicaliy, reliabliity, handling, fun and maintenance are important to me, what do you all think???? Oh and insurance is inportant too???

Now ive been on web and prom what peeps are saying (from reviews etc) is that Audi and VRS are probably the most reliable and Honda not too far behind with Toyota and MG miles back???

I personally think ignoring the prices and insurance the Audi is best.

HELP!! I can keep making up reasons to even buy an MR2 or MG!!!!! Head says yes and i know i shouldnt!

So it looks like for around 10k (which is puching it a little ££ wise) is to get a Leon (that are hard to find for that price (same goes for audi) or get audi. Only diff is the age, how about ther handling on these. Anyone got these cars?

As the ZT is on there you obviously don't mind large cars.

Therefore, how about a BMW 330i - cheaper than the Coupe, or a 530i? The 530i will be easily inside your budget.

Your budget is the same as my next budget and barring a test drive of anything unexpectedly brilliant, I think I'm going 530i.

Just dont like the 5 series at all, no character to it. The 330 CI however.......

No character to a 5 Series? Blimey - I could understand that if you said all BMW's left you cold, I mean, they are not for everyone but to then say the 3 Series has character but the 5 doesnt

Sorry, just dont like them much, prefer the latest model more (unbeliveably)!! The 330ci chassis and 3.0 6cyl is in a different class than the 5 series and the cars im looking @

Want 3 dr coupe not saloon. Anyway, im moving away from the other possible cars im looking @. What will handle the best out of the BMW, Leon, Accord, S3 and VRS???

OK ideally 330ci!!! Out of the S3 and Leon Cupra R, which would handle best and be quickest? Maybe take into account remap? Quite like the 4wd and leather seats.

while you are at it why not try a hummer, 2cv and a stretched limo :p

Sounds to me like you dont have a clue and you are just driving (are you actually driving them?) cars for the sake of it.

I also dont understand how you are losing 6 years no claim bonus when you even mentioned you have a protection scheme in place??

you also dont really seem to have a clue about budgets, you mention civic type-r's and then audi s4's in the same sentence. I'm sorry to sound agressive and nasty but this is far from a concise post.

Typical american!

OK, well im a tight ass so the cheaper it is to run the better! Heart says BMW for buid quality, handling, noise, but head is saying Seat a lot of car for ££, guess its cheapest to run and quick up to a ton TC kicking in, in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and if REVO'd well?!

I bet five pounds to a charity of your choice you buy none of these cars :)

or coz im an american ill make that $10 :D

you just come across as someone who knows nothing about cars and are just posting a list of cars that you are watching drive past your window, BMW's dont have a decent exhaust note I know I drove a 330 for years, the M3 is as good as it gets and it sounds like a strangled cat! You then bring up a seat - the only thing a 330 and a seat have in common is they are both cars, you really couldnt have a larger variation :p why not get sensible and stop dreaming about 330's and s4's and tell us which cars you can actually afford. While you are at it tell me which insurance company took away your protected 6 years no claims bonus after one crash, I must avoid them like the plague!

I will buy one of these cars. Im sure the 330 would sound better with the 6cyl!

$10 says you dont

do you think the 330 I had was a special version without a 6cylinder engine? :p
Well ive just been out in another 330 and the 6cyl sounds nice, although the turbo in the leon feels faster!

Question for you then, out of the Cupra R, S3 and 330ci:

Which is the chepest the run, maintain?
Which will Handle the best and most importantly which will hold its value?

Got to agree with Fox, but I guess if you can't get past the styling of that particular car then for some its a deal breaker (there is no other difference right? apart from it being cheaper to buy second hand like-for-like?). I know I didn't like the look of a 330i even though there are plenty of 4 door cars I do like the look of. And although a 330Ci is just the same chassis with a couple of doors knocked off, for me it was a compromise too far to go with the saloon, even though financially it made sense.

Completely agree! Ci or not at all for me!

They look virtually the same - I'd understand it if you were a saloon hater but you are clearly not as the Jag X-Type and MG ZT are on your list!

I cannot believe you prefer the 330Ci would be happier to get a car you dont like as much than get one with 2 extra doors?

A comparison shot:

You'll note the Coupe is a pre-facelift and the saloon a facelift. Before you complain you need to remember the Coupe was not facelifted until some time after the saloon...

See your point, what however is the age difference between the both and also the body kit is different! ideally i prefer the ci with the sport body. is there any saloons like the above in my price range??? They seem to be a little cheaper but not much on autotrader.
