I've had the car for a little while now and I'm finding it painfully slow. I'm thinking 100-110 BHP with 200-230 torque should be doable, but as this will be the first time I have tuned a small derv car I have no real clue what that would entail, and dont wan't to start throwing K's at it.

I'm thinking of maybe a Motec programmable ECU, a custom exhaust / air filter and a decent remap should make huge difference, but I have also seen some piggy back type ECU's promising some decent gains for sub £350 but I'm a little cautious as they seem to use a generic setup.

Anyone have any experience with tuning this engine ?

Cheers,
Jigger.

A remap might make an improvement but its still gonna be slow....sell it and buy another car!

DIESEL TUNING MODULEZZZ!!!!11

I can deal with not fast, just not this not fast lol. A remap of the original ECU would be great, but I think it might void the warranty.

Just sell it and get something like a 1.6 TDCi or 1.6 petrol. The petrol will give you close to 50mpg anyway, so its really not worth worrying about the diesel in a small car.

The benefit would be if you sell and buy privately, you'll end up with something newer/higher spec or some cash in your pocket

So will changing the ECU and all the other bits you speak of?

Superchips will remap it to 85bhp and 192Nm torque for a £399 bluefin unit.
