why cant the insureance company give you the money?

Think they feel that people arrange "accidents" to release money - e.g. damage a carpet that costs 2k to replace, get the cash then only spend 1k on new carpet and pocket the difference - insurance companies started to say that if you had "replacement insurance" then they wanted to ensure you actually replaced as you are insuring to have an item replaced and not to recover its value! I suspect in this case they could have turned round and said they'd get Dell to deliver the equiv spec replacement.

ok chears Happy

So is there any OC staff on here who can tell me if they can contact the insurance with the prices if I give them a list of the parts I want to order, I have sent an email from the OC website but am not sure of how good they are at replying, I would like to get these parts ordered today.

Ok I am very dissapointed after hearing good reports from people who have brought from OC and being a member on here for over 4 years. I have had an email back from OC saying they wont do this order for me because they dont deal with insurance companies, all they have to do is email/fax them a list of the prices on a letter headed paper and the insurance will pay them, its that simple.

Just because they don't deal with insurance companies doesn't make them a bad company? Its not OCUK's fault your pc is borked. As the insurance suggested just pay for the bits yourself and then get reimbursed

ways to do this 1) buy parts myself and send them receipts and they will send me the money (I dont have the money to do this

Don't want to pry but can't you ask for a temporary overdraft with your bank? Or apply for a credit card, buy your new system and then cut the card up?

2) get a shop to send the prices of the parts I want to the insurance and the insurance will pay them direct (WOULD OC DO THIS).

I would keep pushing the insurance company until they agree to give you a cheque.

Aw that sucks.

*Dons flameproof suit* :p

However would it be worth firing a couple of emails off to other shops too see if they will do it for. You can then use the spec we provided and get it from them etc.

Thats easier said than done, if I could do this I would have done it from the start, I dont have that sort of money spare.

Well as i said its not OCUK's fault that you dont have the money to spare? Just accpet that they dont deal with insurence companies. Just like you accepted that your insurence company dont just give you a hand out.

sorry to seem harsh its just that you cant slate OCUK for thier polocies when its not thier fault your pc is up the creek?
